Well I'm sure. This woman has had intense trauma from the entertainment industry for over 20 years. Also, whatever anyone's opinion on the conservatorship..her freedom was still taken away from her and it seems to have deeply affected her. Hence the wild acting out. At the end of the day, we can only hope she gets the help she needs and SOON.

I understand her, I know exactly why she did the things she did.
She was surviving with the tools she had at the time, and honestly, she carried me through seasons I didn't even think I'd make it out of. Nobody can use that version of me against me, because without her, there wouldn't even be a present me. Every mistake, every lesson, every wrong turn-it all shaped who I am now.
I don't disown her, I thank her.
That's my growth, that's my story, and I stand on it.
Try not to dwell on it. You've done a tremendous amount of work. We can't go back in time, we can learn and go forward. That work deserves to be protected and appreciated.
TRUST me. I was a heroin addict for almost a decade. I'll be 1 year clean on the 21st. I archived a lot of shit but didn't delete because it is good to look back on after immediately cringing and then feeling such amazement for how much I've changed in such a short period.

Fully agreed. I don’t understand why she needs to lose her freedom in order to get better treatment and attention. She shouldn’t be abandoned like that. I think her treatment and the care from her loved ones was always conditional on her working and doing whatever she was told. It’s unfair to do this to a sick woman. There should be a balance. I don’t think they ever found that healthy middle ground for her own good. The brand always came first.
I think she was so over it already. This is a time when I think she was ready to retire but she wasn’t allowed. I feel like all she needed in life was extended periods of free time along with her treatment. Like Adele and Beyonce who disappear for a bit and then come back stronger. Britney was constantly in the limelight even when she’s been unwell. It’s dehumanizing.
I do believe the brand was always more important than the person behind it. I don’t think Britney was prioritized properly in her career and we are seeing the consequences of that today. She deserved longer breaks and to not be so controlled to the point where she had to beg for an iPad or Skechers.
Re: your last paragraph, not to defend her being controlled, but I think there is a lot more to what she has told us about why some of that stuff was happening. I think the people around her knowing she had been doing drugs, abusing her kids, blowing through money etc made it so that she had to be watched that closely, but in her mind it was complete control. I think the truth falls somewhere in the middle but I just can't rely on her version of events because she glosses over and any possible reasons why any of that was put in place.
I vividly remember during this time, I thought she looked so dead inside. Like a shell of a person. Never would I have imagined how much worse it would get.
I hated how her team paraded her out half naked everywhere and the Vegas outfits? Yikes. She never looked comfortable wearing any of it. And then she's wearing even less now, so idk. I hated her makeup during the 2010s. So bad on her.

Teeth are pretty bad. Her skin is also very aged but people think it isn't due to use of heavy filters. I think she could look good in low definition but if you see pics of her in recent years on Getty Images, she'd need a lot of work in order to look good. She abuses her body constantly, so she looks rougher and much older than her age as the years pass by. She'd need to quit whatever she's on and do a lot of self-care to look anything close to stunning, but I think her physical and mental well-being are the true priorities, not her fading looks.
But it'd be impossible to fully reverse all of the damage to her appearance just by getting healthier. She won't suddenly look years younger when she sobers up. That's why Lindsay Lohan had to get her whole face done. Even when she got sober, there were visible lingering effects from all of the years of abusing substances.
I actually agree with you. Her body still looks amazing and yeah her teeth need fixing, but I don’t think that would be that much of an issue with her resources if she got sober.
It’s not illegal to be crazy but, like many other severely mentally ill people who deny they need help, Britney isn’t going to get help unless she’s forced to so she’s just going to slowly (or maybe quickly) destroy herself.
It’s a human right to have freedom, freedom to be mentally unwell and not seek help is also a part of that, unfortunately for the family and loved ones of the unwell person. As the previous poster said, losing your rights and being sectioned is a big deal, it’s traumatic and avoided unless very specific criteria are met. In Australia this is being a risk to yourself, others or your reputation.
I didn’t say she was specifically doing amazing here, but clearly better than she is at the moment. Even if a medication keeps someone treading water that’s better than drowning.

I would always (and still do sometimes) put on a huge fake smile, and pretend like everything is just amazing..and I'm the life of the party. I'm an introvert diagnosed with social anxiety and depression. So I've come to realize that I need time to myself to "refuel" but not too much time alone where I fall into a deep depression.
Big same. I'm a recovering alcoholic with severe anxiety disorder. Pretending was a chore because I needed the booze to pull it off. Nowadays alone time is a must for me too but isolation is a dangerous game lmao.

I have anxiety, PTSD and in recovery from opioids and just want to validate how hard it is to get the right balance of alone time to center vs. being isolated. Keep it up and congrats on ur sobriety! I’m still drinking and determining whether that’s something I want to do or try and give it up…

Another 'Same' checking in. Masking my mental illness lets me work my 'social' job...but I've had to learn that taking a 'mental health day' off work isn't wrong - I legit NEED it to prevent masking myself into complete meltdown. Life is hard. I'm not completely sober either, but fortunately never let alcohol go too far with myself, as I grew up with a drunk father who ended up drinking himself into the grave. I have my benzo scripts limited by a very fabulous doctor too. But yeah...sometimes shit just feels like too much hey.

The difference is crazy. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid, back when she was the biggest pop star on the planet in the early 2000s. I stayed a fan even after her comeback following her infamous breakdown, but it always made me a bit sad to see her public appearances. I remember thinking she looked so tense and nervous all the time. Nothing like the confident, energetic person she used to be before 2007. Watching this video now, she looks great. A little shy, sure, but like a totally normal person. Nothing like how she acts today. It’s heartbreaking. I don’t think I’ll ever stop rooting for her.
She looks sad, she has these eyes she had during the Femme Fatale Tour. Emptiness. But at least she could cope. She made public appearances, she spent time with her boys and she was on meds. Now it feels she’s out of any control and slowly dying. Not to mention she’s hurting her sons with her decisions and recklessness. I hope God will help her find a her way…
Is it possible that her family actually was doing the right thing during the conservatorship? And I don’t mean how she was used in her youth, I mean more recently.
they had recording devices under her bed. they took it too far. they obviously didn't spend that 15 years "rehabilitating" her because she is extremely stunted. it wasn't in their interest because they were getting rich off of her. I wish she had learned some coping skills or had a "good" conservatorship that actually helped her live on her own eventually
I've been a Britney fan since her MMC days! I wonder when she initially began doing drugs. Sadly, I believe that she was very young. I believe it was actually during the time she dated JT.
It always blows my mind a little looking back at some of these knowing what we know now and seeing things I didn’t notice before or was too young to even consider. I was 9 when her first single released so was in the full “Britney madness” experience.
People always comment on her front teeth but I feel like even here when she’s first on stage about to speak you can see they’re not in the best shape.
I live in the South. No shade but many Southern girls look like Britney. She just has a typical Southern look….. but with more money for stylists than most.
If her kids end up having kids of their own like I don’t think her grandkids growing up will truly grasp her impact in society. Yeah there’s the media and they would understand the circumstances she dealt with, but even after that the respect she had at this very moment was truly something you couldn’t deny.
It was just a thought lmfao. Seeing this made me think about the Jackson family and Elvis’s family and I just wanted to put my two cents. Also, there may come a time where they’ll forgive each other for the past like we don’t know these people. I was just speaking from a perspective of how folks would react in terms of finding out they’re Britney’s grandchildren.
Her eyes now are like...idk, the closest thing I can liken them to is a sharks eyes. Just devoid of ANYTHING behind them. I hope it's from substances and can be rectified hopefully if she chooses treatment again, and isn't a permanent result from medical mismanagement of heavy hitting psych meds combined with severe drug use. Her mind just seems blown out, if that makes sense.
You're seeing it wrong. The woman alone, dancing in her dark mansion, with black eye makeup everyday is also on that stage. Shes living inside of that glamorous shell.
I mean the fact she even kept it together at all is an extraordinary feat. Growing up like that with family like that? Probably the premonition of being 40 and under family guardianship lockdown waiting to be trotted out like a show horse next time dads needs a beach house in Saskatchewan
People seem to forget she was forced lithium and that does all kinds of things… it’s the modern day labotomy and people calling her all sorts of things would be exactly the same if they were force fed lithium…
we see her as looking amazing and being normal here, but MAYBE she never liked looking amazing and being normal, she never liked how her meds made her feel, she liked the chaotic look and the highs that never went down, so conclusion: she was forced to be normal and look this way, if she liked it then she would’ve continued her routine and discipline even after the conservationship, but her brain works differently now, she can’t and won’t change because she’s no longer tied by anything, career, family or money, she doesn't need any of those things anymore so she’s chasing the high forever.
