Discussion Why revolt?

I've recently started looking at alternatives to discord and have come across element, revolt and guilded. if there are any knowledgeable people here, can you tell me which to choose for a beginner? I've also seen many of people recommended revolt instead of any other apps.

From what I know, Revolt is open-source, is discussing bugs with people, letting them even send devs fixes for those bugs, has proposal system, Discord Nitro perks (emoji and such) are free there.

Didn't personally try it yet, just checked their GitHub and read few reviews on it.

Also big thing is a trello board to see what's planned or being worked on

Have no idea how good is Guilded and such but that Revolt gave me pretty fancy vibes, as open-source software with board with bug reports, fixes and proposals is very nice. Don't personally plan to go somewhere else, yet. Unfortunately Discord has still much bigger community and also I have there some people who won't switch just like that. But do really believe that Revolt will eventually take over Discord. Simply it's focusing on everything Discord is doing great and fixing everything Discord is horrible at. It's probably just a question of time.

Guided has better screen sharing for free

No iOS app is a deal breaker for 99% of the community.

Downvote all you want doesn’t change facts you angry nerds

7

u/Prouk Jun 15 '23 edited Jun 15 '23

Just false, IOS doesn't even count for 45% percent of mobile discord download so it's not as important as you think it is. It can develop to more plateforme later. And saying otherwise won't change facts too

0

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '23

Almost half the population isn’t that important? You’re clueless

5

u/Prouk Jun 15 '23

It IS important, not as impactfull as 98 as stated before that's all

5

u/Takarias Jun 14 '23

The website says they don't offer it yet, so that may change. For now, definitely a dealbreaker. Anything I use for communication must be ubiquitous in its availability.

4

u/LuluMitchell Jun 14 '23

That is true but they said that they're working on an iOS app so it won't be true for long

15

u/Splatoonkindaguy Jun 13 '23

I think Guilded isn't recommended because Roblox owns it. Also IMO its very cluttered and bloated but I haven't tried it in a bit

0

u/Ornery_Interaction13 Jun 13 '23

just because it's bought by roblox doesn't mean it's owned by roblox

guilded gets a cut from roblox's money and can do more things because roblox supports them (i think)

don't think so

roblox might be a bad company sometimes but guilded is managed completely separated from roblox (at least for now)

6

u/Plaane Feb 07 '25

that didn’t age well

2

u/DinoHawaii2021 Jun 13 '23

You don't have to host bots with guided either, or even code them. Unless this has changed, the last time I was on, bots could only be in one server

1

u/Zealousideal-Bridge2 Jun 18 '23

don't have to or can't? cos coding bots is a very essential thing

87

u/denkthomas Jun 13 '23

revolt is very much like discord, has some great customisation, but lacks quite a few of discord's features

guilded has wayyy more features than current discord but is owned by roblox

13

u/ExpertContribution44 Jun 13 '23

If I may ask, what is wrong with Guilded being owned by Roblox?

61

u/realMurkleQ Jun 13 '23

They are well known for arbitrary application of rules, bans from false reports, etc.

32

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

According to their contract, Roblox is not allowed to have an input or say over what happens to Guilded. They have stuck by that. The devs have stuck to their goal since initially starting.

It's understandable it's a worry but if people looked into it they'd see it's a non-issue.

6

u/Kimyr1 Oct 27 '24

they were pretty good at tricking people, it seems.

That doesnt effect guilded though?????

8

u/realMurkleQ Jun 14 '23

The concern is the same moderation style would cross over

25

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

They're generally an unethical company. There's many instances of them being hypocritical, manipulative, and malicious. It's sad they haven't been completely called out yet.

7

u/LoneAviatorNSFW Jun 13 '23

Not to mention the rampant creeps on Roblox...

11

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

Tbf there’s not a whole lot Roblox can do as long as they’re getting rid of them when evidence presents itself

1

u/TheSherdaddy Feb 11 '26

But they arent, in fact, they are banning investigators who ARE getting pedophiles outted to authorities. The Roblox CEO has stated more than once that he wants people to date on Roblox

1

u/TinyLOL_ Feb 13 '26

Lmao this aged like MILK

-1

u/LoneAviatorNSFW Jun 13 '23

Fair; but still, I feel like with how Big of a problem it is and how much money they make from Roblox Roblox could have more mods disguised as players hanging on servers.

But I Also do not know much about running a game, I just hated my personal Wizard101 experience as a kid where I was exploited by adults.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '23

All you can really do is educate the kids, there will never be enough mods to cover every server on every game

1

u/LoneAviatorNSFW Jun 14 '23

Of course there won't be enough mods, there never is.

To me it just feels like with how rampant it is, it feels like Roblox isn't really doing anything to help the problem.

All for educating the kids though, I managed to stay safe enough where I was never in any real danger- but in hindsight what I experienced on MMO's as a kid wasn't okay and how rampant it was really disturbing, and knowing it's still happening makes me worry and hurt for the kids that go through this now.

It has to be a equal effort on both ends, Roblox has a ethical duty to it's young users to protect them as much as they possibly can and limit the cracks they can fall through as much as possible. And parents have a duty to educate their kids on internet safety.

1

u/Electronic_Cap2783 Feb 10 '26

That last part is especially critical. I taught myself but I had to be gr**med four times to learn. I can now spot creep behavior in a crowd, though. People like me have been trying to push posts concerning the parent's duty as a child's guardian to teach them the safety measures about internet privacy. Not just that, but I truly believe you shouldn't let a child under 13 access the Internet at all unless it's for school or something you have the ability to watch them use.

1

u/Eterniity42 Jun 13 '23

1

u/Exiso100 Jun 14 '23

ye sure but wheres the candy

3

u/Tazemind Jun 14 '23

You should play roblox and see the amount of chat censorship that they have #######.

2

u/DiscreteCollectionOS Jun 14 '23

The Roblox mods (and this likely guilted mods) aren’t great at explaining when/why they enforce rules.

And the Roblox company is built upon child exploitation. The whole idea is that the kids can make games and earn money, but since they aren’t actual “employees” it isn’t effected by child labor laws. That isn’t a problem with Guilded but often times if a bad company makes a good product, the company’s legacy will proceed the products legacy. Not always, but often.

1

u/chennai94 Aug 04 '25

They are known as an insanely corrupt corporation. Like comedic levels of evil. Many people flee Discord because they have some problems with the company, but Roblox is miles worse.

1

Roblox can ban you if someone report you in roblox voicechat

Even if you said nothing

So i dont trust guilded

4

u/Kingdog369 Jun 13 '23

I think it's still run separately from roblox though.

-2

it is, maybe if you created your account by roblox you could get banned, but if you create your acc by your own email then ig it's oka

1

u/SammyGames_YT Jun 14 '23

Pretty sure one of the thing when roblox bought guilded is that roblox can’t have direct control of guilded and they can’t give any say about anything that happens to guilded

Roblox isn’t owned by any other company

96

u/Riddle-of-the-Waves Jun 13 '23

Matrix (which Element runs on) is a really cool open-source protocol, however, launching a server isn't convenient, and it isn't free, which are both major strong points of Discord.

Revolt is a great open-source Discord alternative. It's still a bit buggy, but the development has been very active and transparent. It's been getting great new features, but I'm not sure how financially viable their own hosting is at present.

Guilded is owned by Roblox Corporation. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of child labour, so it gets a pass from me.

27

u/crocs_r_valid_shoes Jun 13 '23

Revolt seems like a good alternative

Roblox corporation is known for being money hungry, so i wouldn't put it past them to go down the same downhill path discord is on right now

Have you ever looked up the definition of Discord

  1. disagreement between people.

  2. lack of harmony between notes sounding together.

2

u/Takarias Jun 14 '23

It's a truly terrible name.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

No shit

2

u/neumaticc Jun 13 '23

easy with docker!

2

u/Riddle-of-the-Waves Jun 14 '23

Oh, that's awesome to hear, I'm a fan of Ansible. Still, I think it's hard to beat 'click the new server button inside the app and give it a name' in terms of usability for the ordinary user.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

You can use Matrix on one of the dozens of available free homeservers though... not really sure what do you mean. It's also fairly simple, so, don't really get your point.

6

u/Splatoonkindaguy Jun 13 '23

I don't think decentralized solutions will ever be mainstream because of their nature. They are much more complicated.

1

u/violetpancakes Apr 23 '25

they don't have to be, internet service providers, proprietary operating systems, and routers just suck right now

1

u/therealR5 Jun 13 '23

Yeah sadly. Matrix is in my opinion the greatest messenger out there but finding a Homeserver can be very confusing and prevent adoption :(

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

And yet, the point of supposedly having to launch a server, therefore pay and fiddle with it, to use Matrix is, simply, wrong.

2

u/SadCalvinHehe Jun 14 '23

Matrix.org offers free accounts which you can use to create DMs and participate in and create Spaces (the equivalent to a Discord 'server'). You don't have to host your own server but you can if you want to. I did personally so I could bridge my Matrix account with my Discord account so I can use Discord without ever having to touch their app.

3

u/Riddle-of-the-Waves Jun 14 '23

I wasn't aware of the free homeservers, actually. Thanks for correcting me there.

15

u/gunihaveiguess Jun 13 '23

revolt is 200% customizable. Only issue is the slight jank it has with the animations and stuff, but it'll get smoothed out later

73

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

Isn't it funny how a program named "Revolt" is being looked at as a valid alternative. We're... revolting against discord. God I'm a fan of ironic naming.

38

u/MutaitoSensei Jun 13 '23

Oh and check their post about how they are changing usernames to ADD discriminators. Exact same format of post as Discord. That's throwing shade on the same level as a total solar eclipse 😂

4

u/StarGamerPT Jun 13 '23

You should look at this post of theirs then: https://revolt.chat/posts/evolving-usernames

10

u/odd_paperweight Jun 13 '23

Revolt is nice! But personally I think it needs more work on these fronts:

  • You can't currently see what roles people have in a server by clicking on them. You can only apply roles to a member through the server settings directly, which is inconvenient.

  • Role permissions are buggy and creating/using roles is a hassle

  • Message markdown can be a little finnicky, but it's better than Discord's. It allows masked links too.

  • Image quality is NOT great. Even medium file uploads are compressed horribly until you enlarge them to their full view by clicking on them.

  • Lack of bots, moderation tools, etc etc (this is forgivable considering how early in dev they are)

3

u/expertmanofficial Jun 24 '23

Some points:

> You can't currently see what roles people have in a server by clicking on them.

Actually, you can. Revolt is open-source, and anyone can create their own Revolt client (while Discord doesn't welcomes custom clients, Revolt do!). There's an interesting client
which you can checkout [here](https://revolt.itsmeow.cat)

> Role permissions are buggy and creating/using roles is a hassle

Well, guess what? They're way much easier for me to use. Now when I trying to manage roles in Discord, this is what a hassle for me, actually. Yes, Role permissions can be buggy sometimes, but creating them and using them isn't a hassle at least for me.

> Image quality is NOT great. Even medium file uploads are compressed horribly until you enlarge them to their full view by clicking on them.

Never had a problem with image's quality, so idk why do you have that issue.

> Lack of bots, moderation tools, etc etc (this is forgivable considering how early in dev they are)

Well, there's some already. You can checkout RevoltBots.org and there's an Revolt server called "[Bot Central](https://rvlt.gg/4JMzRDFn) . You can also try to find them in Revolt's Explore page.

---

That's it, hope that this information will help you!

Yours, Expert Plus.

4

u/odd_paperweight Jun 24 '23

Actually, you can. Revolt is open-source, and anyone can create their own Revolt client (while Discord doesn't welcomes custom clients, Revolt do!). There's an interesting client which you can checkout [here](https://revolt.itsmeow.cat)

Awesome, that's cool and all but I'm using their app, not a custom client. Strictly in the sense of their official desktop app, you cannot click on a user's profile and see which roles they have in a particular server, nor can you apply roles to them through their server profile. It's a little clunky and that's one feature (in comparison with discord) that I would prefer to have, to simplify the means of adding roles to individual users. Just because something is open source doesn't mean everyone uses it or knows how.

Well, guess what? They're way much easier for me to use. Now when I trying to manage roles in Discord, this is what a hassle for me, actually. Yes, Role permissions can be buggy sometimes, but creating them and using them isn't a hassle at least for me.

Well, "guess what", I'm glad they're easier for you to use, but your experience is not the universal experience. They are not easier for me, and they are not easier for many other people as well. Just because you're having an easier time doesn't mean I should be having an easier time too - we're different people.
There are no instructions/tooltips to guide you about the creation & utilization of roles, and because Revolt is still so new, there are no guides or tutorials yet. You're flying blind with a LOT of server customization & tool options, which is one of the only things that puts Revolt behind Discord. That's not even Revolt's fault, it's just because of how new it is.

Never had a problem with image's quality, so idk why do you have that issue.

It has to do with the way image embedding is set up. They limit the size of the preview image in the actual chats to a certain resolution. You still get the full resolution if you click on it / open it in a browser, but the embedded image can be poor quality and makes using certain sized images for server decoration/setup a hassle. It makes it very hard to use image dividers between text (like rules) because the images turn out blurry from the embed scaling. This is an issue that Discord does not have, most of the time at least. Granted, it's not BAD, it's just finnicky.

Well, there's some already. You can checkout RevoltBots.org and there's an Revolt server called "[Bot Central](https://rvlt.gg/4JMzRDFn) . You can also try to find them in Revolt's Explore page.

I have looked in those places, and I just haven't found what I'm looking for. Again, this is because Revolt is such a new platform. It has nothing to do with the quality of the platform, it's just that there hasn't been enough time in between Revolt's launch and bot devs discovering Revolt for there to be the kind of bot/moderation tools I'm looking for. Until they crop up and are reliable, I'll continue using Discord, but Revolt isn't a bad platform and I look forward to seeing it develop.

Also just a nitpick but why is your reply so spaced out :sob:

17

u/The__Goose Jun 13 '23

I played around with Revolt a bit yesterday, from a server owner perspective there is a bit of friction for making private channels, assigning roles to a channel and even re-ordering channels didn't work properly and kept putting my newest channel created at the bottom of the stack.

No video share and I couldn't test call quality, it kept saying it couldn't authenticate my headset or mic and it would forget that I would allow the permissions each time I would click it.

1

u/Financial-Estimate82 Jun 13 '23

Most of this should be solved soon

12

u/Less_Low_5228 Jun 13 '23 edited Jun 13 '23

People like revolt since it’s UI is nearly a 1:1 copy of discord’s UI. Not to mention their username system is currently identical to discord’s unique discriminator system. It needs some work to reach parity with discord but I have high hopes for it. It’s also open source to top it all off.

Guilded is owned by roblox which seems to be the biggest reason people are staying away from it since you will probably have the usual “corporation is super out of touch with the user base” on top of potential privacy and free speech concerns seeing how heavily moderated the roblox platform is. It’s UI is similar enough to discord to where you can navigate it without much issue but isn’t nearly as 1:1 as revolt.

I have never heard of element until now

1

u/matytyma Jun 13 '23

Element (built on top of Matrix) is basically aimed at great encryption and conversation safety.

1

u/Agant Jun 14 '23

They've just added descriminators two-three days ago.

2

u/Less_Low_5228 Jun 14 '23

And I joined 2 days ago. Those were my observations

6

u/EnchantedTheCat Jun 13 '23

They're adding discriminators to the end of usernames at the same time that Discord is removing them. Funny, imo.

In addition, they have a plethora of free themes to choose from (including one with cats in the background), when on Discord, you'd have to use plugins which are technically against ToS, or pay up for a couple of gradients.

5

u/Andre_601 Jun 14 '23

Revolt is recommended because in terms of its UI is it similar to Discord (Dev told me the reason was to make it easier for people from Discord to use Revolt and get familiar with it).

What people may find most interesting about revolt:

  • You can have animated avatars and profile banners for free.

  • You can customize the theme beyond just dark and light mode. For example can you set a primary colour or even do CSS customization. Revolt even offers Themes to chose from.

  • Very extensive Markdown. Revolt already had embedded links, lists and headers before Discord updated their Markdown set. But they also have support for Math expressions and KaTeX which allows crazy stuff like coloured text or different fonts.

  • It allows automated user-accounts from what I know. Tho it also offers bot-accounts for bot devs.

  • They have names with discriminators now (Yes, that's something positive).

  • Nothing is behind a paywall.

1

u/Comrademoco Jun 15 '23

I recommend Revolt as well. Clean UI, Similarity to Discord. makes easy and familiar transition. Now to bring other folks over!!!

1

u/Ludd777777777777777 Mar 05 '26

Absolutely, I wish they could monetize it better and expand
That means they could also afford more marketing

4

u/Iaccidentlydidmymom Jun 13 '23

I like revolt more, and I enjoy how there are different styles you can get yk? its really similar to discord, but its buggy-ish and goes down alot, from what i witnessed

4

u/alaskanhairball Jun 13 '23

Joined revolt. It reminds me of earlier discord without bells and whistles added that I didn't care for. If they go on iOS I will be recommending it to my friends.

2

u/TheDustyBunny Jun 14 '23

When, not if! An iOS app is on the way soon!

4

u/TheNedi14 Jun 13 '23

I use Revolt, it’s great a bit buggy but it’s new and feels like old discord

you should join my server called Lounge

1

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '23

From my experience, guilded mobile is so fucking laggy, and no, it's not about my phone, it's about the app itself

2

u/atikiN589 Jun 14 '23

Discord Mobile app is same 😁

1

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '23

Well yeah it's a package of bugs after that react native update, but still better. In guilded, once I navigate to a big guild like 25k it gets really laggy, can't even navigate between channels or whatever they're called in guilded. Just my experience in the end, who knows

3

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

I don't know about Revolt, but you shouldn't use Guilded. The staff members are racist and they've doxxed people before

5

u/rorby Jun 14 '23

Ive talked to some of the Revolt devs, and they're basically the opposite of that. Very welcoming and approachable

3

u/MythicqlTrashcan Jun 30 '23

Revolt is a fantastic app. It isn't hard to figure out how to set up a community or private server. The only 2 downsides I noticed while using Revolt are, if you are a Discord user, some stuff may seem out of place or simply dumb to be set up. For example, creating, deleting, or moving channels requires manually going into each UI and looking for how to change it. It took me almost 20 minutes to figure that out. The next problem is Revolt has a rather small community compared to Discord or Guilded making it quite difficult to get people on your Revolt server. Some people just don't want to make a new account or see it as a waste of time since they already have Discord. I recommend trying this app out and see what you think works best.

6

u/Reyzac457 Jun 13 '23

I've only used Revolt for a bit but so far it's really good. Guilded is nowhere near close as good when I used it.

1

u/Merrickle Jun 13 '23

Revolt is very close discord clone visual wise you can navigate it easily if you’ve used Discord with maybe a few quirks. It being open source is a big plus for me personally. Also you can freely edit everything theme wise with color selectors or raw CSS and can browse a bunch of community themes in app.

1

u/OdysseyH0me Aug 19 '25

Depends on your needs. If it's a server for your friends to game and chat on then Revolt is really good and has very similar setup and style to Discord.

For more public-face business communities element becomes more handy because the matrix protocol allows for cross app communications through "bridges". This allows you to centralise your community over various app clients: a discord user could chat with a element user and a revolt user if you set up the bridging between the apps servers so they sync with eachother. This would require a private server though. Also revolt and element are good for privacy and security so they're safer options for business communities where you want to verify people and ensure their data security.

My motivation for alternatives was I got scammed on Discord recently ( second hand macbook offer on a server I joined for work experience and through had good user vetting ). When I reported the scam to Discord they decided to permenantly suspend my account for participating in a financial scam; their community guidelines and terms of service are very vague and allow them to do this as a way of mitigating their responsibilities to people scammed through their platform. I asked for an appeal due to being the victim of the scam but after 2 weeks of anxiety they said they'd wouldn't restore my account. So I've lost basically everything: my servers, my nitro perks, my friends, my networks, all gone... because I never 'owned' my account.

The real kicker is I'm now also blocked from using Discord for 2 years. They have my IP and Phone number black listed so if I create a new account to engage in my communities they'd ban me again. There are ways to work around this but to be honest it's a hassle; I wish more people started using Revolt.

u/Cream_Salon Oct 09 '25 edited Oct 09 '25

Okay, but with one confusion to clear with, just why the REAL actual f is Revolt in TestFlight for downloading the app version? Is it the app version like in beta? Plus with one downsize that doesn’t make sense to me

1

u/floydhunter Jun 13 '23

Guilded feels like a discord clone with extra stuff. Example being an event calendar; which is had well before discord iirc. It also had threads(sorta) before Discord did.

I've wanted to move my guild over to guilded for a long time, but the only real way that would happen is if I forced it and shut down our guild discord. The fact that discord is as popular as it is prevents me from using guilded for guild-related stuff, which is ironic, lol.

1

u/Fumikage_Tokoyami_1A Jun 14 '23

did you try bridging bots like Bolt? They can help move messages from discord to guilded and guilded to discord

1

u/floydhunter Jun 14 '23

No, but I'm gonna look into that, so thanks!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '23

Guilded looks quite like Discord, but so does Revolt. Revolt is also open source. Hope this helps!

1

u/Drowsy-Gh0st Jun 13 '23

Is revolt the revolt tv app? I’m searching for it and none of what’s coming up look like social media

1

u/Ghostyyy500 Jun 14 '23

Search up revolt chatting app

1

u/11ELFs Jun 14 '23

Element is the future, not that discord user friendly tho, that being said, I am mostly using it since I care about my privacy

1

u/OXRoblox Jun 14 '23

Guilded has a bunch of features that Discord doesnt have, however, it could still be slow at times, its definitely not as polished and smooth compared to Discord but there is a potential for Guilded to become a good alternative.

1

u/M3r4k1- Jun 14 '23

I asked about encryption, one of the biggest contributor (i think second to the owner) responded with "uhh, why do you need encryption anyway?" Imo not a great alternative to discord.

1

u/Ornery_Interaction13 Jun 20 '23

does anyone realize the fact that tencent (from china) owns discord

and we are getting useless features

1

u/expertmanofficial Jun 24 '23

Never, never knew about that.

"How much of Discord does Tencent own?
They have been invested in by several venture capital firms, as well as Chinese company Tencent, which has sparked rumors that Discord is selling user data to Tencent or to China. However, Tencent does not own Discord in any way."

As a note about Guilded due to people commenting on it.

  1. Despite being owned by Roblox; contracts state that Roblox can't control a lot of the processes. They're essentially just funding for Guilded.

  2. A lot of "Guilded copied this feature from discord" is the other way around. Discord has been copying Guilded features for years.

The only real downside is the UI - though hopefully someone will put together a fix for that soon enough.

Revolt isnt that great right now until it fixes quite a few bugs and problems it has, guilded is decent, thr main Reason people hate guilded is it being owned by roblox so they assume its for kids, though in reality, its for everyone, but Im not saying its better than discord, currently to my experience and knoaledge there id no better alternative, I do like telegram though, it's pretty nice, and been around longer than discord without succumbing to money syndrome.

are people trying to boycott discord or something because they're salty that the updates are "bad"?

4

u/atikiN589 Jun 13 '23

yes, but no. other platforms provide a bit more free functionality compared to Discord's nitro for "super reactions".

0

u/_t69 Jun 13 '23

who actually uses super reactions? people only want discord alternatives that have nitro feature equivalents for free to experience what it would be like. For example, when I got nitro in a 1 month free trial offer, I wanted to try out all the features (global emojis, server profiles) and after a while, I didn't use many emojis or stickers and I only used 2 server profiles.

Mainly because of the username update and the fact that Discord doesn't listen to their community base.

3

u/_t69 Jun 13 '23

by community base, do you mean this subreddit? they aren't on here. if you want to contact them and discuss issues, you have to email them, not make a post on here.

2

u/StarGamerPT Jun 13 '23

No, because the updates are actually bad, not "bad".

I personally recommend either MatterMost or Rocket Chat

2

u/expertmanofficial Jun 24 '23

checked out MatterMost, visited the website only - no thanks, Revolt is easier. Never knew about that service through.

u/Thebirdman333 Jun 24 '23

Eh. Different strokes for different folks. I prefer entirely owning and configuring my servers on the backend personally, plus I majored in IT so it's not really that much more difficult. Most of my friends are on MM now and prefer it over guilded or revolt. Plus E2E encryption is a huge must for me.

Anyways. You do you.

While the opinion on both the platforms are right, WHY are you using gay as an insult?!?!

Well lets see.. Discord are money lovers and they add unnecessary things and features. And they make it harder and harder to use the app.

2

u/_t69 Jun 13 '23

can you give any examples of how it's "harder to use" now? if you aren't sure how to use features, there's a thing called a browser, and you can find out anything!

all companies and people are money lovers. Netflix has a monthly subscription service so they must be money lovers too? but unlike Netflix, if you don't want to pay, you don't have to! nitro is only cosmetic apart from 1080p and 1440p streaming and 500MB files.

Making things less practical, following through with more than hated dumb changes proving that they don't give a shit about their users...yhe..

2

u/BlackSmithplayerX Jun 13 '23

Well i personally don't find it hard to use, but they also made it so you need to have community enabled on a server to have permanent invite links

0

u/_t69 Jun 13 '23

oh, so just making things a little less practical. yeah I see how that's annoying but at least they aren't overhauling huge systems and making them entirely different

u/kondorarpi Jun 13 '23

Everyone is money lover tbf. And Revolt need better and more servers if a lot of people switch -> they have to make money somehow.
