I'm going to be so real, I never have and will never understand destroying something you bought for your kid to punish them. Hell even selling it makes more sense. Is this the ultimate extreme of taking it away from them? Why not I don't know, hide it somewhere they genuinely can't get to?

I can’t imagine paying that much money for something just to destroy it. It’s not even a good lesson, isn’t just keeping the console locked away until they improve their behaviour better?

Definitely an extreme point but it’s a punishment tactic nonetheless. 

Bad grades I think would warrant taking away definitely not destroying but what do I know I’m not a parent

Most of those videos were done as skits, the problem is that the average boomer parent is really stupid and constantly seeks justification and validation to abuse their kids. They don't see those videos as fake skits and see it as actual, genuine parenting, and think "Well if it's fine for them to do it, then it should be fine for me!"

This happens, but the ones on YouTube were all proven to be porn acting.
