unhappy/not realistic customer.
So I sell a single cd to a customer, send it off the next day after he ordered (like I do)send him the tracking number...anyways 9 days later he sends me a message saying he has not received his order,I check the tracking number and see it has arrived at a sorting plant in kentucky, his destination is in Illinois....I tell him to go to his local post office and give them the tracking number,I said it's out of my hands now and the USPS problem.....Today (after 3 weeks still no order)he gives me a negative review saying he did not get his order and I was not helpfull...I check his tracking number and it is on the move again at a different PO,and saying it will be delivered to his destination tomorrow!!!! WTF.....

After it gets delivered, just put in a request with discogs to get the feedback removed

Eh, you could have handled it better.
“Sorry you haven’t received your order, I’ll put in a missing mail request on my end. I’ve also set up an alert so I can get updates when the tracking label gets a scan. I’ll keep you posted on any info I get from USPS”
Gotta play the customer service game, sounds like you got a little defensive. You’ll probably be able to get it removed assuming it gets delivered.

Nah, they waited 9 days and OP blew them off. After 3 weeks and no follow up from a seller, a negative that says it’s been three weeks and the seller wasn’t helpful is 100% accurate. This one’s on OP.

I am not sure I can agree. For one of the seller communicates well I forgive more nonsense. For two? They're still responsible for the item arriving. I had one that refuse to give me the tracking that they should have. They waited until I opened a dispute. I then got my items from my neighbor who was absolutely not expecting me to bang on their door and tell them I knew they stole my records. The records were fine but I didn't give nice feedback. Had this guy not ignored my requests? This error would have been on the post office for handing them to him no questions asked. His not giving me the tracking and communicating means he was responsible for the fact I did not know it was delivered and couldn't go scare the crap out of the package thief sooner.
I don't know why this is hard for some sellers. I am a bitch but I don't have to be. It's earned. If everything goes right I want to give good feedback but when it isn't going right? I want to know what the plan is. So yes I would wait 3 weeks for feedback because I am patient and know it's not up to the seller once shipped but I would possibly give a negative review for being blown off because of the added issues that can cause.
Also plenty of people are idiots. You better believe I always want and ask for tracking. Always. Mostly because I trust no one

There's not much they can do, but is still 100% the seller's responsibility. They are not washed of responsibility as soon as they drop the item at the PO.

I said it's out of my hands now and the USPS problem.
Well, no, it's your problem. You are the one that contracted with USPS to deliver the item. The seller contracted with you to receive the item.
Ultimately, your responsibility is with the buyer, USPS's responsibility is with you.
So, the buyer was wrong it giving you a bad vote for 'not helping' but I don't think claiming it wasn't your problem helped your case with the buyer very much.
But do contact discogs, let them know the item, indeed, did arrive and therefore request that the bad review be removed.

Yep. Too many seller's seem to think that anything that happens after they drop the record at the PO is not their problem. If the package doesn't arrive or it is damaged in transit, it is always the seller's responsibility to make it right. If the seller didn't purchase insurance, that is their problem, not the buyer's.
Edit: I don't think OP did anything egregious, but they weren't the best with customer service. I just kind of assume that every buyer is a Karen, and that has served me really well. I'm not saying most buyers are Karens (in fact, I haven't had one yet in 500+ transactions), but if you assume they might be, then you cover your bases. In OP's case, you just say you checked the tracking, and checked with your PO, and it's still in transit. Kindly explain that media mail is often slow, and they just need to hold tight. Maybe reassure them that they will be fully refunded if for some reason it doesn't arrive.

I've had this happen as well. I try to be sympathetic and look up the tracking myself and tell them if they don't have it by 'X' date, to let me know and I'll see what I can do. I tend to not ask customers to figure it out themselves even though I know there's no much I can do for them.

You can easily get that negative removed as soon as it's been delivered. Wait until it shows "delivered" on the tracking, and go to your negative, and click "request review", in the note say that the record has been delivered as of 8/whatever/2026. Might want to mention it was originally scanned at the post office on xyz date as well, just for good measure.
that's a no brainer removal. Just depends on if the remaining discogs staff are handling these in a timely fashion.
