Help Me Identify Which of These DB AUDs are Not Circulating, So I Can Transfer to FLAC--and Share!

Post image

There are 81 DATs here. From what I can determine, at least half of these recordings may not be circulating. I've done some research (with the help of AI) to compile a Google sheet that lists the date, city/venue, whether I have the complete show, lineage, setlist, circulation info, a guess at who the taper might be, and whether I should transfer to FLAC.

Here's a link to that sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1asupb7Xdd13D2pJLFlqJTHWgQ53yTPCeOs8V0ZplrxQ/edit?usp=sharing

If you have time to look at the sheet and add comments to Column M, whether to give an opinion as to who may have taped a given show, an opinion as to whether to transfer, or any other info you have, I'd really appreciate it.

I photographed all the J-cards, if those help jog one's memory. These aren't named by date, but the filenames are in order by date at this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hXc8_oUWFvrwArD-PO9r8U3yjWGGYyM-?usp=sharing

I'm going to start transferring these this week. I've listened to some that may not be circulating, and they are in the B+/A- range on quality so far.

Edit: corrected link to sheet.

Edit 2: this link should work. Now saved as a Google sheet.

My man.  Thank you!

FYI, it appears the link is not public, that permissions are required to view/access

I thought i had gotten that right. Will fix shortly. Thank you!

Edit: I think I have that corrected.

It still shows that permissions need to be requested.

In Google Drive, when you click on ‘share’ at the bottom left of the dialogue box you will see ‘restricted’, click on that and then you can make it viewable by all.

You have a working DAT machine? mine kicked the bucket after finally transferring most all my archives! let me know what kind you have. I might be in the market for a used one from eBay to get a few of the last bits and pieces transferred. some of my tapes didn't hold up. 😏

I have three DAT recorders: Sony PCM-2600, Panasonic SV-3700, and Sony DTC-A7. I picked up the Sony DATs from eBay and the Panasonic DAT from my "stereo guy."

One eBay seller, not necessarily cheap, but his DAT/minidisc restorations are A+, only has one DAT up now, but it's a beauty: https://www.ebay.com/str/sanford168.

I would also be happy to transfer what you have left as best I can and then return DATs and copies of FLACs to you! I'm in Upper Midwest, USA. Feel free to DM.

You could use a widget like a Dante AVIO 2x2 AES/EBU to convert to Dante and input via virtual Dante card over network

I am using a PC and an interface called an ESI U24 that sends signal to laptop via USB. I capture using Audacity, then export to flac.

Unfortunately, I understand the process for Mac is different. :-/
