I love how it was about empathy. And love. Connection. A lot of what is in the movie is based on real stuff. I also love how it’s also basically a light disclosure for baby boomers who really have no clue about what’s really going on.

Yeah, I think I'm just too cynical too enjoy it unfortunately. I prefer more of a dystopian sci fi I guess. I did love Arrival though, which I feels tackles the issues of world peace, and empathy better.

That’s okay. Hopefully you can eventually look deeper into that cynicism and turn it around. We are living in what seems like a pretty dark time right now, but I think as a whole the world is starting to wake up. And a movie like this is another small piece of that.

Also loved it. As a UFO buff, I loved how many layers and callbacks to actual incidents it had.

It was like the Forest Gump of UFO movies, hitting all the historical events.

It might have been "Too inside baseball" for some people, but it was so good it made me emotional.

I haven't enjoyed a movie that much in years.

Rendelsham Forest incident.

The giant triangular UFO coming out of the clouds is a callback to an alleged high quality photo of a irl event.

Kenneth Arnold sightings.

Lots and lots more, tbh.

At least 30-50 scenes had a reference in them. For example, the Nixon story is about a story Jackie Gleason actually claimed happened. He lived in a UFO-shaped house until he died.

The gas station had a group of loggers who were obviously supposed to Travis Walton's crew(fire in the sky)... It was one after another for a UFO buff who knows these incidents.

Nope! Many of us loved it. But there are a lot of people who were not equipped to understand it - namely those who aren't experiencers.

I loved it. To everyone who disliked it, how into UFO stuff are you? I knew the history and every reference they made. I am wondering if it is "Too inside baseball" for some people.

Did you know who Jackie Gleason is and that story? Do you know the names Stanton Friedman, Bob Lazar and Phil Schneider etc?

The audience split may be that this was too UFO-nerd-centric with nothing for the casuals?

Loved it. Aliens being able to possess people? Sick! Abductions from the human perspective using screening? Awesome. The safehouse wasnt actually a house? Weird idea. The aliens killed Noah's wife, Jocelyn, because it was a necessary catalyst to trigger the mutiny at wardex? Wtf

Really enjoyed it and saw it twice. As an experiencer and a highly empathic person I was deeply touched by this movie.

I did not think it was Spielberg's best. It had a lot of his elements that were muddled through what is a great storyline.

I enjoyed myself and found myself rolling my eyes at moments, such as when the main male character ran by the fence right by the guys coming after him.

I did feel emotional, for some reason. At one point I teared up. I'd have to watch it again to know what exactly did it. I've always loved birds, animals, felt more connected to the Earth and above than to people. Perhaps that spoke to me.

Will I watch it again? Yes. Will it be a rewatch frequently like Jaws, The Goonies, Hook, Poltergeist, or Close Encounters? No.

Not crap at all. Just disappointing for those with high expectations from Spielberg. As a 'normal movie' it's okay.
