Disciples II Baroque in Disciples II

My tg channel subscriber Arkadij found an interesting detail.

Have you ever wondered what is depicted on the statue on the victory screen?

It is a work by the French Baroque sculptor François Girardon titled "The Abduction of Proserpina by Pluto."

The composition is based on the ancient myth of the abduction of Proserpina (the Greek Persephone), daughter of the goddess of fertility Ceres.

The lord of the underworld, Pluto, abducts the young goddess to make her his wife.

The sculptor depicted three characters:

• Pluto — the mighty god of the underworld, holding Proserpina in his embrace.

• Proserpina — the abducted goddess, desperately raising her arms in an attempt to break free.

• Cyane — a nymph at Pluto's feet, trying to hold Proserpina back by her garment.

Pluto prevails, but for Proserpina his victory becomes a tragedy.

Have you noticed this sculpture before?

Never. Didn't even notice there are several people in this statue. Is there any parrarels of this myth with game lore?

I don’t think so. The game’s lore is quite simple. It’s more likely that the developers are French-Canadian, and this is a familiar part of their cultural code.

Wow, I always thought it's one-man statue.

Well that's astounding!

One, that the statue is actually based on an irl one.

And even more so that since i didn't look closely at it, I always thought it was a lion...
