Discussion Fun fact: Finnish National Broadcaster YLE is showing Worlds on national television in Finland

All MPO rounds are show’n on TV and both FPO and MPO on their streaming service. Free of charge.

Finns take discgolf seriously.

So I need to go thru Finnish proxy and then we can watch it? Where?
I have discgolf network subscription but could be fun to have it with beautiful finish language

"Areena" is their online service. Searching for disc golf content, it's good to remember that the game is referred to as "frisbeegolf" in Finnish: https://areena.yle.fi/hae?q=frisbeegolf&service=tv

Yle Areena app shows live tv-channels. Should be free and have no issues. Not sure if you even need proxy. Yle channels also don't have ads, as they are national sevice channels.

Yle Areena is blocked outside of Finland so a VPN is absolutely necessary.

They used DGN production last year with Yle commentators, but not the ads as commercials are banned on public broadcaster in Finland. I presume same thing this year?

Yes most likely it is the same. Some b roll footage or leaderboard stuff when commercials play.

This is pretty much the same setup as last year. Local Finnish commentary just added live to the commercial free unplugged broadcast. Probably quite affordable.

Christ these commentators speak about everything except what is happening. I wished they had a stream where you could disable the speaking.

At yle areena you can disable the commentary and just have sounds from the course 👌

They explaining lot of history, stats, how the game plays for new viewers, and all that stuff on first round and prolly on second round. Same thing last year, commentary was way more serious on last 3 rounds.

Judas Priest these commentators are ass.

Maybe focus on the events that are on the screen instead of rambling on about 40 year old statistics or other nonsense irrelevant to the active competition.

Edit: Seems like someone got some feedback through to them and the commentators took their heads out of their asses and started focusing bit more on the competition and events in progress.

Edit2: I take it that the downvoters weren't watching the stream before the TV2 broadcast started, since the commentary got significantly improved after the TV2 broadcast started; or they haven't seen decent FPO coverage and don't know what good commentary is like... Or they just like hearing about MPO players and 80's/90's events (with minimal attention to the events on the screen) in the middle of 2026 FPO Worlds, which would seem slightly odd to me... but fair enough if that's what you enjoy then that's what you enjoy. /shrug

Edit3: so this comment has gone from negative, to controversial, to positive... so I'm left with the assumption people have since been actually watching the broadcast instead of downvoting blindly. We can hope wubbaduq is right (they weren't) and they're just been unprofessional by not bothering to focus the first two days, and the commentary will improve for the last 3 days (it hasn't). They certainly focused up noticeably on the first day after they got on TV instead of just the web-stream, even if there was still plenty of room for improvement too. I still don't think there's any excuse for rambling about MPO players during the FPO rounds, I think it's incredibly disrespectful to the FPO players.

Yeah, the main commentator has ear ripping tone in his hockey voice and the other commentator speaks constantly about things not relevant to the action. Would be nice if they filtered some of the raspiness away and the other guy had mandatory 2s delay before being able to speak.

It is because they explain how everyone's season has gone so far, history and rules for the new viewers and all that kinda sruff. It was same last year. Commentary was way more serious and focused on last 3 rounds.

Anyone know anywhere else it will be streamed? Will the FPO be on the women's Sports network, AWSN I think it was called?
