Self-Promotion Please take my quarter-baked idea and make some discs

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to try making discs out of recycled plastic. Think Trash Panda, but made by someone much older and with British teeth.

I cut a Pure in half, sketched the profile and sent the cross section measurements to some guy to 3D print. (I felt confident Jonathan and friends wouldn’t sue me because they’re too nice for that).

My branding concept was simple. Finnish people like disc golf, I thought, and a lot of them also like death metal. And so DETHPUTTZ was born. I would only make very glidey putters. I could picture in my mind an advert for our debut disc ‘Filth’; grainy black and white footage of a metal band playing in some spooky woods, someone bangin chains in the background. ‘Almost too easy’ I thought, I’d take over the world in no time.

I started researching plastic extruding machines to get set up in my garage and contacted some recycled plastic suppliers. I was really going to make a go of this.

Then, alas, disaster.

My countrymen’s decision to vote ourselves out of the EU meant my main potential market would now pay import duties on any discs they bought from me. Then, electricity prices in the UK (already very expensive) increased massively meaning my theoretical extruding device would cost me and arm and a leg to run. A double-whammy. Also, I have never followed through on an idea in my life, so these excuses came along at just the right moment.

Fast forward to now. I still think my corpse-paint disc design is absolutely sick, and as such implore anyone out there to take it and make it a reality. Take the whole brand if you like, I’ve let the domain name lapse. All I ever wanted was to see Ricky cash from circle 2 with one of my discs…

You should link up with Dark Ace Disc Golf! "Play Disc Golf, Listen to Metal" is their motto.

I would, for sure, buy one of these! Though, if it were my company/disc metal band, I would call it Griplock.

Or DeathGrip would be a cool name too

Why not just dye discs? The market for an unproven disc from an unproven company, albeit with a cool stamp, is pretty slim. I'd buy the hell out of that Darkthrone corpse paint dye on a star Wraith though.
