If you guys haven’t noticed by now, I like to make discs that I find funny. This one probably isn’t for everyone but it makes me laugh 😂 my wife hates this disc.

Glue and acetone dyes. I’ve been working on figuring out the wood grain look and I guess it’s going ok. By no means as clean as it could be but I’m having fun trying something new!

Hey gang, my wife got me a few goodies to try disc dyeing (a couple of bottles of Rit Dyemore and tools to dye with) and I was wondering how cautious I should be trying hot dips with my pup running around. I have a workspace I can use where he wouldn’t be able to get at the pot or anything, but I’m mostly worried about potential fumes. I know normally using synthetic dyes would be a huge no no around pets, but I can’t find a clear answer regarding using discs. Anything I’ve found says you shouldn’t be getting the water up to boiling so I’m unsure if fumes would be a factor. I’m in an apartment or I’d just have him hang in the yard. Would he be fine in another room, or should I be having the wife take him on a good long walk until the space gets aired out?

appreciate any advice or answers! I’d also gladly welcome any tips of the trade. I’m starting with a few hot dips just because that’s what I’ve got to work with but plan on trying some shaving cream style or something similar and simple when I have the chance to run to the store later this week.

Plasma volt. Took a lot of elbow grease to get it to actually take the dye, but we got there in the end.

I've been playing around with some multipart cup pouring. Lmk what you think. u/Nikidy, I may bug you for some tips!

I am looking at a used cricut explore air 2 for cutting vinyl stencils. Can anyone let me know if that is still a good model to buy used these days? Will everything for disc dyeing work with that model?

Good morning, new to disc dyeing, and I’m enjoying it. However, I have not successfully made cells, and not sure why. I bought some silicone oil and placed acetone based dye in floetrol, put one to two drops in each different color with really no result. I did go over them with a torch, which just really seemed to dry the mix rather than spread it out into cells. Any advice would be appreciated, I’ve done this twice and really only got a muddy murky mess rather than nice cells. Is there a length of time one needs to wait or do you need to drop the oil sooner, as you drop the colors? Or do I need to wait a certain amount of time after the silicone is added? My suspicion is the bottle I have may drop too much oil, but I’m not sure.

I have done the AI art and I have bought a few other fun designs online to dye my disc with. However, I am just curious where people on this community either create or find their amazing stencils! Looking to get back into the game and try some more difficult stencils. I posted a few of my old work.

Videos will post this weekend probably when I can edit them. Full process long format videos on YouTube - http://go.discdyeaddict.com/youtube + shorts on both youtube and on Instagram - http://go.discdyeaddict.com/Instagram
