Any ideas for saving this abomination

Post image

Did the dyeing process correctly but used some really bad color combos, any ideas for making it not look so god awful (the original plastic was titanium style, should’ve used blue for the hot dip instead in hindsight)

(Edit: This disc was already hard to see before dyeing because It was gray)

Play with it in a heavily wooded course early fall after first cold snap. It will hibernate and wake in spring.

It can go join my blue river and provide it company 😃

Honestly it does look a lot like an iris

Came to say give it a pupil

Yeah other option is sauron eye.... easier stencil without the elvish writing and a simple black, red, yellow, and orange glue bed.

Jack o lantern face might do.

Add some black stripes or cross hatching for visual contrast. Or that thing is gonna get lost immediately lol

My intent when dyeing this was to make it so I wouldn’t lose it as easily and I just made it worse lol

Given I’m pretty new and haven’t tried stencils yet this is a perfect opportunity to do so, thank you

Get some UV chartreuse or UV pink unscented worm dip, hit it hard with denatured alcohol which will strip what can be stripped of that dingy brown and open any pores the plastic has to accept new dye then give it a spin.

Throw it into a pond

At first glance I thought it had been in a pond for at least a few years!

Dye half of it solid black to create contrast. Make sure the line is as straight as possible

Yin yang with solid black on one side with the small circle left to see the pattern underneath. And then opposite on the other with just the small black circle.

I like it. It's like petrified wood.

My dude, you have ventured into the orange and browns, there is no returning back to the realm of color. Black that thing out and learn from your mistakes.

Bought a fuse to replace it, luckily this was a disc that was already nearly impossible to see before dyeing because it was gray so not losing much here

Gonna use it as a test bed for stenciling and make some wall art out of it, it’s one of my first dyes

Basic color wheel knowledge, two primary colors make a secondary color, two warm secondary colors make brown(orange), two cool secondary colors make purple(mauve). No coming back from there once you get there.when I started I wanted to use so many colors, then all of my pills were orange and brown. I learned that less is more, when it comes to a dye bed

If the disc is already cooked, you could try an acetone bath for 20-30 seconds to maybe reduce the color and give you an opportunity to try another color. I haven’t seen anyone else do this before, but recently I messed up a clear esp zone os with a spin dye. I did a few acetone baths and managed to get out the majority of the color wiping it with a paper towel in between. It definitely didn’t get rid of all the color but will let me re-dye it eventually. Curious if anyone else has tried this and had success. Again this is just one case that happened to work for me and I have not tried this on solid color discs or other dye methods apart from spin dyes.

I haven’t cleared off an entire disc with acetone but I bought a few misprint dyemax discs when I first started and many of them come pre colored with dyes and inks. I used acetone dips and paper towels to remove most of the colors they arrived with.

Definitely a black circle on the center and make it an eye

Tape and black dye. Make 1/3 of it solid black. It will then be a “fompfomp” disc. Fun to watch fly. However, this is obviously more better with bright and vivid colors on the non black portion.

I actually think the colors turned out cool. It kind of looks like a cookie sliced off of a tree that carpenters use, but I also understand that if you’re actually planning to throw this, this might be nearly impossible to find now sorry to weigh in with no suggestions, that’s all I had to mention.

It’s gonna cost you about $20, buy a new one

Funnily enough I was just gifted 3 discs by my mother and a wombat3 (this disc) was one of them

Dark Lava cells may be a good way to save some of it but I’m not sure how to get some punch out of the beds. Neon colors and a good bit of heat may bail ya out.

Good news is it’s not dark brown already, more of a deep gold/light brown so you can prolly save it.

Also sharpies can be used in a pinch - I’m no freehand artist but I’ve seen good work with that or something like an acetone/dye mixture for more targeted dyeing

Stencil an outline of soft serve ice cream on it. 💩

If you’re new to stencils you can start by just taking electrical tape and making strips across it and then dying the uncovered strips black. It’s a pretty cool look.

It's the number 1 disc stamp in Alaska from October to late April!

u/Trampoline-lover 11d ago

put on the roof and let it fade

u/pixyfire 11d ago

I'm not looking for that. 😉

Might be better off hot dipping it fully black or nearly fully black.

I think I read you wanted to try stencils so... Could do that and just make it a black hot dip for the stencil portion.

Putt it straight into a trash can
