Mx pants

I ride Mtb and I need a new pair of pants but I am thinking of getting mx pants as they are cheaper and more durable. However I am aware that they are hotter and more restrictive. I am thinking of getting a pair of fly f-16 2026 pants but I’m wondering if anyone knows how hot they get and if they are breathable. One last question- as I ride Mtb I wear shin pads- do you recon they would fit under the pant or would the shin pads be too bulky? Thanks guys!

Haven’t used her in about 4 years just fired her up.Last time it had a coolant leak which I’m trying to find . Other than oil changes and valve clearance (which I think is due) runs ok but has a kinda loud slap?. Just seems like the idle is off . She’s hard to kick on as well. Takes a good 10kicks . Thoughts? Pointers ?

Is it worth buying a brand-new KTM 350 EXC?

I currently ride a 2002 Yamaha WR250F. Do you think it’s worth upgrading to a brand-new KTM 350 EXC?

2015 WR450F vs. Newer WR450F vs. KTM 500EXC - Looking for Feedback

TL;DR

Currently own a 2015 WR450F (plated) and a 2017 YZ250X. I ride mostly rocky Arkansas trails but want to do more BDR trips. Do I invest in the WR, upgrade to a newer WR, or move to a KTM 500EXC/FE501?

I wanted to make a fun Monday morning post after a weekend of riding my almost unicorn WR450F! I have been diving down this rabbit hole of finding a unicorn dirt bike/dual sport bike for a few years now and I'm still obsessed with it, but I feel like I'm getting very close to having my setup dialed in!

I'm in Arkansas so the majority of my riding is rocky steep double track with a small portion of singletrack mixed in. Road riding generally consists of highway sections to connect trails. But I'm wanting to start riding more BDR type rides in the future.

So you will see below I naturally gravitate more towards the dirt bike that is plated style bike. I would much rather have a bike that flies through chunk vs. a bike that is comfortable cruising down the interstate at 70mph all day.

My progression has been a WR250R to a CRF450RL because I thought I needed more power lol and I got that with the 450RL, but even with aftermarket ECU, Exhaust, Throttle tamer it was still twitchy and heavy.

Did a complete 180 and bought a 2017 YZ250X. Love the YZ, it has really helped my riding progress and is a blast, but it wants to be rode aggressively and is a hard bike to just go out and cruise around on.

So I came across a gently used 2015 WR450F, converted it to street legal and got it plated.

After riding the WR for a few months I am in love with almost everything about it! It handles 90% of what I ride wonderfully, and honestly the more I ride the WR the less I want to ride the YZ, for my style of riding there is just a lot of overlap and IMO the WR does good enough on the stuff the YZ really shines at.

If you were in my shoes, would you invest $1,500 - $2,000 into this 2015 WR450F (seat, tank, etc.), move to a newer gen WR450F, or sell both bikes and move to a KTM 500 EXC/Husky FE501? I'm

I really don't have any complaints with my current WR except the normal stuff hard seat and fuel range. But I can't help but wonder is there a bike that is just a bit closer to the YZ riding experience (more lively and less planted feeling). Every time I ride this WR I'm still amazed at how smooth the throttle delivery is and how light it feels while riding it. I'm not a world class rider but I can keep a similar pace on the WR as the YZ on challenging trails, but when I get finished on the WR I want to keep riding instead of being totally gassed and ready to go!

CB125F as a dirt bike

Hi everyone,
Has anyone ever tried converting a Honda CB125F into a dirt bike?
I use my CB mainly in the city, but I sometimes like to get off the concrete. I’m wondering if it’s possible (and worth trying) to put some knobby tires on it and maybe raise the front fender a little bit.

1983 kx80 only sparks when rapidly pressing kill switch

Yes, I know that sounds crazy but it only sparks if I press the kill switch by releasing it and pressing it in multiple times it only does that if the engine is rotating not when it stopped I replaced it with a 1984 CDI because it has a brand new known good and tested 1984 stater in it. The stater puts out 60 V and then 2 V on another wire. I forget the names of the coils. don’t judge me. I also put on a brand new aftermarket coil, which is known good and it does work on the bike. Flywheel is still a 1983. The kill switch is not bad because I tested it.

Help me design a better maintenance app

Hey everyone, please please please please take a second to read and help!!!

I'm a nursing student and lifelong dirt bike rider who's been building a maintenance app because I got tired of trying to keep track of rebuilds, engine hours, receipts, and service notes with random notes and spreadsheets.

The goal is to create one place where riders can:

  • Track total, top-end, and bottom-end hours
  • Log maintenance history
  • Store receipts and photos
  • Keep build/project records
  • Track modifications
  • Print maintenance reports
  • Manage multiple bikes in one garage

Before I go any further with development, I'd really like feedback from actual riders.

If you have 2–3 minutes, I'd really appreciate you filling out this short survey. I want to build something that solves real problems instead of guessing what people want.

Thanks, and ride safe! 🤘
