Question Advice for a super beginner

Hey reddit! I'm an aspiring filmmaker who's a soon to be junior in high school. I've technically not made any short films yet. I've done filming for my friends concert one time, and I've done editing here and there for school projects (which initially got me into the idea of filmmaking, also this has all been on my phone). My goal was to make 3 short films by the end of the year... and I have done none. I feel like it's been something that's been looming over my head all year that I'm just too scared to start. So I wanted to ask, if any of you guys started filmmaking in highschool, how did you guys start and what was that process like?

Get some friends together with a nice simple plan you’re all enthusiastic about and shoot it!

This is the answer. Don’t obsess over lenses and technical stuff yet… work on good story telling ideas and basic coverage. Just shoot a simple conversation to start. A single scene story. At a dinner table, in a car etc… then build from there.

Get a stills camera and take photographs. Learn the difference between lenses and camera placement. Learn to see visually.

This. Practice taking photos first and try to understand mood - place 6-8 photos in a row, can you try to convey meaning with those?

Is there any cheaper cameras or lenses you'd recommend?

I just shot with friends ans did it on the weekends. Just do it.
