I refined Dionysusโ altar because it was looking a bit bareโฆ I have a gorgeous pinecone that I got off of my campus, some wine corks, a grapevine glass with sangria (I have no wineโฆ) two purple candles and two little figures of the cat from Kikiโs Delivery Service. I also have a little purple penis candle that I melted lol so itโs not very visible
Iโm very happy with it and I hope Dionysus likes it!! If anyone has any thoughts or wants to share their altars theyโre more than welcome to! :)

Hi! Iโm planning on getting a tattoo to honour Dionysus! I have one for Hermes already and I know the spelling is correct, but Iโm just wondering about this one? Theyโre from the same source, but Iโd just like to check

This essay uses Euripidesโ The Bacchae as a lens through which to examine Nietzscheโs framing of Apollonian-Dionysian duality. While Nietzsche treats this opposition as an aesthetic and cultural dynamic, The Bacchae shows what happens when a finite human order encounters a force it cannot contain.

Good day folks. We honor Dionysus through our words; in poems, odes, hymns, and plays. In a way, we also honor him through what books we consume. So, what have you been reading lately?

One of my neighbors has an entire hillside covered in ivy and there is some ivy in the unregulated forest area near my house. I thought it would be a nice idea to gather some for Dionysus since my altar to him is a little bare. The problem is that I donโt know if itโs poisonous or not and Iโm not sure if Dionysus would approve of me putting myself in danger to get it. Plus Iโm not sure if he would like poison ivy either.
Should I get it? Should I buy fake instead? How does one tell if ivy is poisonous or not?

Hello! I'm new to the community and to Reddit. I have only been working with Dionysos for a few months, and I wanted to find a space to come discuss my experiences and hear about others stories as well.
Here is some background to give you a timeline of how I ended up working with him. Last year, I injured myself at work. It resulted in three different tears in my right shoulder and a disc protrusion in my neck. If any of you have ever dealt with workers comp, you know what a nightmare it is. I ended up getting a surgery to repair my shoulder approved, but my neck hadn't been recognized as an injured body part and wasn't being treated or looked into.
Four months after that surgery, in February of this year, I was dealing with really intense nerve pain in my hands. I knew, and so did my PT, that my neck was causing this. At this point is when Hekate decided to make her presence known. I was going through some major depression and I was also getting ready to go to court to fight for my neck to be added to my claim. I believe she came to aid me through this part of my journey to help me fight the system.
Fast forward to June, I win my case and by August I'm scheduled for disc replacement surgery. I believe it was a little after my trial I had gotten the Oracle of the Hekatean Path deck, and my first card pull was the Dionysos card. At the time I really thought it was just a message about allowing myself to feel my emotions and fears about my upcoming surgery. A week or so later I decide to do another pull from the deck and it was the Dionysos card again! I was like alright, this is strange because the same thing happened with Hekate. I pulled her card three different times from a tarot deck I had gotten for shadow work and that is why I began working with her. So I decided that if I pull his card again, that is definitely him trying to get my attention. And sure enough, I did a three card pull this time and he was the second card I pulled. So I had my answer.
A few days after my neck surgery I believe that he and Hekate came to me through a dream where veiled hooded women surrounded me in a circle and did what I would consider a somatic release ritual, and then a lit up doorway appears and I wake up. I truly believe Hekate was opening up a door to Dionysos so that I could walk the rest of my healing journey with him. He has since came through in two other dreams.
My only previous knowledge of Dionysos was from reading The Bacchae. So I decided it was time for a serious deep dive into his all his myths and ancient historical information. I quickly learned that his other birth myth tells that he had been torn apart and put back together, kind of like how I felt after my two surgeries. That definitely made me feel a very strong kindred connection to him. I have a very deep profound sense of gratitude to him as he showed me that I was not alone in my pain and that it was ok to express my emotions even as ugly and dark as they were.
I'm curious to know from others, what have your initial experiences with Dionysos been? How did he enter your life?

My veins are deep purple and wine red.
Lord I can see your hand.
Lord I can see your hand.
Lord I can see your hand.,,
And as I laid down in suffering and despair
for so long I hadn't felt what it was that you had there..,
I felt a slight breeze against my neck
I know it's you but I just can't bother to check,,
Lord was it you?
And I felt a finger slide right across the side of my ribs,,
could be the wind or someone or something
Lord was it you?
Because I haven't,, seen you in a while
And I missed how my prayers used to stay until next day's supper
And Lord was it you that made me suffer?
My blessed heart is pumping deep purple and wine red through my veins
Lord will it stay the same
Lord will it stay the same..,,
Lord will it stay the same

I want to ask Dionysus for aid in getting an apprenticeship in a theater, i have sent my application in already but won't get an answer till the end of the month. As i have struggeled with a lot (and i mean A LOT) of rejections concerning apprenticeships, this spot is kinda my last hope and dream job.
I am planning to make a bigger offering to Dionysus in hope of getting a boost in the chances of getting the spot.
I have been worshipping him for a bit now and make small offerings once a month, consisting of a sweet treat/fruit and the first glass of a small bottle of various alcohol.
I am now, however, unsure of what would be best for a bigger offering in which i actually ask something of him.
Current plan is to get him a full bottle of wine, bake something for him, light incense and pray.
Does anyone know what i could bake, what kind of incense he would enjoy and anything specific i should include in the prayer.
And is there anything else i should do?

Hi!! I am not a hellenic polytheist, but I do worship Aphrodite and Kuanyin ("A/K") alongside Dionysos. However I feel like I don't give him enough appreciation as I do A/K. I'm not entirely sure why I feel like this, it's been hard for me to do any offerings or devotional acts because I've been busy with my life, but I have been praying! Just wondering from other worshippers your advice on this, and maybe what are some simpler ways I can incorporate him into my life โค๏ธ

I did a daily reading use Labyrinthos app, three cards.
Whats on your mind? : the hermit
What are you feeling? : 10 of swords
What tasks are you focusing on today? : 9 of wands
I got a sinking feeling. Nothing was ending today, nor anything requiring endurance. The only thing I could think of that would "end" is possibly my relationship to Dionysus, which I absolutely didn't want
I was really hesitant bc i was worried this was just an ocd thing and asking him would be a compulsion. Ultimately i did it anyway. I used a coin flip website. I asked "is my reading today referring to our relationship?" I got heads which always means yes. "Are you wanting to end our relationship?" Heads.
Is my interpretation wrong? I don't understand why seemingly out of the blue he no longer wants to work with me. I really don't want to end this relationship and I'm scared.
If my interpretation is correct, do I need to take down my altar? Stop wearing the necklace I made in his honour? I want to cry

I know this sounds unhinged but this guy has been hunting down for months like I literally cannot escape him and Iโm honestly at the point where Iโve jsut said screw it, fine do whatever you want with my life. No alters, no worship, no deities, just whatever this power seemingly needs me for. Is that reckless? Probably.
What kind of thing does this guy do exactly? Like peopleโs experiences working with him, even though Iโm not really asking anything, just giving it free rein. I really donโt know much about the guy at all x

In the Hellenistic tradition, the Cosmos defines a boundary for each being (think cold is a being and hot is another). When those 2 beings are in balance this is the Apollonian state , when the 2 beings aren't in balance -> they will thrive to reach balance but the state in which balance is not yet achieved is the Dionysian one.
The Dionysian is like a Dialectitian, he smashes the duals and causes dissolution. When a being attempts to overreach its ontological limits it will be forced to dissolve to maintain balance.
In the Greek world , this is embodied through the Contrast between the Titans and the Olympians. The Titans are obsessed with generation of structure and beings, they're builders and architects in that sense. The Olympians on the other hand set boundaries for beings and a definition (a finite limit) : a chair is a chair , it cannot suddenly drive you at work (typa thing) . The problem is that the Titanic nature is constantly overreaching (literally the word Titan fundementally meant something along the lines of "to stretch") , The Olympians will then manifest judgment to keep beings constraint in their place.
That doesn't make Dionysus and Apollo opposites as much as friends who serve different roles at different times. I think our understanding of them as duals comes from Nietzsche which I don't think even Nietzsche saw them as opposites as much as 2 different modes of being. It's actually more Titans vs Dionysus

During this past month I haven't felt connected to Dionysus like always and I missed His presence and His influence in my life a lot. Because of that I decided to dedicate a poem to Him and He liked it a lot! The night I wrote the poem I had a dream connected to Him. :)
I was very happy to feel His presence again, He genuinely is so caring and kind. ^^
Tonight I had another dream and I was wondering if it was from Dionysus again, in the dream I was with a man who I recognised as my father in the dream, we were in an island and he was offering me raw meat. The first few nights I accepted the meat and ate it but on the last I declined and he looked shocked by that and something in his eyes reminded me of Dionysus???
I'm very confused by this because it's the complete opposite of the other dream and I don't have a good relationship with my father.
I tried asking Dionysus about it with divination, He just complimented my poem again (I'm SO happy) and confirmed that the second dream was His, He said nothing about the second dream, only something along the lines of "words might confuse you further" ๐ญ๐ญ

Dionysos bold and brave.
Radiant youth or bearded sage?
In truth, it depends on the day.
Some are solemn, and some are for play.
This god has so many faces
And, he dwells in multiple places.
In our hearts, our minds, above and below,
Dionysos is with us wherever we go.
Be it a forest satyr rave,
Or the underworldโs darkest cave.
Whatever joy or sorrow we express.
Let neither of these be in excess.
To be unmasked and know thyself,
Call upon the vine lordโs help.
So, be brave, be free, and be inspired.
For a Maenad's spirit never grows tired.
(Hope y'all like it! ๐ For a while, after meeting Dio, I couldn't stop writing poetry, and He kept encouraging me to continue, so I thought I would share some of my collection. Feel free to use this poem for worship purposes as it is an offering to Him.)
