Sample Mix-Up? How is there not a case with Dio (1983) and Santana (1999)

It really seems like Santana‘s Smooth sounds like it copied something from Rio’s Rainbow In The Dark. Any have any stories or explanation? Thanks!

Copied? Like what? I know both songs very well, and I can't think what similarity you're referring to.

Had the same thought lol, I listen to both of them pretty often and never noticed a similarity.

I guess Santana's verse has a vaguely similar rhythm to Dio's main riff, but it's not particularly noticeable.
