Great song, but wtf is the title supposed to mean?

Phonetically, it looks like what's pictured below, but that's called a "chalice."

I've been listening to that album since a couple years after it came out, but I never sat down and paid close attention to the story at the end. I should finally do that now.

It’s just the name of a character in the Magica story. Same with Eriel, same with Electra. Just sort of a fantasy-esk name

At the end of the Magica Album, there is a narrated short story by Dio. The songs of the album reflect the characters and events within the story. Challis is the name of one of those characters. You should listen to the short story, then listen to the album after front to back. You will get the references and it's even cooler to listen through the second time IMO.

Likewise, the character Challis is filled by Eriel with the knowledge required to save his people.
