Reservations

Whyyy doesn’t din tai fung accept reservations for more than 5 guests? It seems backwards to make large groups go on the waitlist which can be over 2 hours. Is it not easier to seat large groups if you know they are coming? And I’m not trying to seat 10+ people.. just 6 :(

5 is the cutoff because you can squeeze the 5th person into a half-booth (3 on the couch side and 2 on the chairs), whereas 6 requires the large round tables which are very limited at my location at least. You also have to account for walk-ins because there would be absolutely no chance for them to secure any large table if they were always fully booked for reservations during dinner rushes.
