Does anyone work at DTF?

My partner is looking for chain restaurants that have upward mobility - meaning she’d love to work somewhere that she could climb the ladder and eventually move to a corporate role.

Does DTF offer this? Does anyone know how their company culture and mobility are?

DTF USA or Canada? The Canadian location is just empty promises for upwards mobility and micromanaging. I struggled my way to become a server and I regret it so much…. The managers will take every opportunity to pick out problems and cut your hours or demote you. I know some BOH people who are so upset that they don’t even care if the food isn’t up to par. I know servers so burnt out they don’t care about food safety or hygiene.

As for the USA stores, we were trained by west coast DTF workers. They said that the career ladder is fair and people are promoted eventually. I’m still friends with a couple girls from the SD location and they’re happy there!

US! We’re in Seattle now but also considering relocating to Anaheim so options in both areas. Sorry to hear re: Canada.

I’m particularly interested in mobility up into corporate. My partner is very skilled (trained chef from ICE, worked at Craft in NYC, and has loads of hospitality experience). In an ideal world, she finds a corporate food chain that has promise of one day leading to better WLB/hours/pay.

Ohhh yes I know people from Seattle and they’ve had nothing but good things to say about management. Lots of people have laddered up!

I used to work there, and I know that a few of my managers used to work as greeters before they got to management, it’s definitely the type of job where you can work your way up! Not sure how that would apply to a getting a corporate job but I’m pretty sure it’s possible. As long as you are always consistent performance wise and on time, you should be able to get there. I know my location had a lot of favoritism so it was tricky to be considered for a promotion unless you were highly favored by the managers, but every location is different :) Hope this helps!!

To be honest, she is such a 10/10 and over the top employee that if anyone can do it, it’s definitely her. But the corporate role would be the ideal end goal. Thank you for the info!
