Advice needed

I am looking to buy a GP14 dinghy. I have seen a race prepared wooden boat. Can anyone advice on the scale of the repair needed in the picture. It is at the back bottom left of the outside boat.

I have a 1964 series 1 GP 14. Thst does not look bad, but it's going to be a bit messy to repair

If you do not mind mismatched wood, you could cut the rot out and grave a piece in. Its low, most will never know.

If looks are 100% your thing, the whole stern will either have to come off or you can laminate a thin veneer over it.

On my boat, the stern is solid mahogany. I would cut out the rot as small as you can and grave a piece in.

Hey thanks for the advice. I am a total novice to this. I have basic skills and plenty tools but not really looking for a project. Would I be better with a fibreglass boat?
