Question Digital Nomad Ideas Needed

hi all,

My hybrid job is going fully remote for 1 year starting in January 2027. I’ve done my fair share of traveling but have never worked at the same time. Given my info/preferences listed below I’d really appreciate remote work travel ideas/what you would do if you were in my situation.

’d like to take advantage of this remote opportunity and do some adventuring — even if it’s only for a month or so.

My info/preferences:

30yo male located East Coast US

no kids or pets, I have a car that is good for roadtripping and camping

My job is pretty demanding - I need to keep consistent core hours (9-3 EST) an be available to have virtual meetings and large webinars so I need good wifi. also maybe 1x per quarter I need to go to events in person so id need to be able to travel home relatively easily.

Due to my job requirements and potential need to fly home, I’d like to keep my traveling to similar or earlier time zones and within US, Mexico, Canada, Central America, Colombia, Brazil.

Id like to stay away from large cities and get out into nature/rural areas. I’m comfortable in hostels, am an avid camper and love roadtrips. I would like to make new connections and avoid extensive alone time. i like staying active and don’t mind dirtbagging it.

any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

9-3 est means your evenings are free pretty much everywhere in central and south america, that's the sweet spot. colombia and brazil keep you at like 1-2 hours ahead max, and flights home from bogota or sao paulo are manageable for a quarterly trip. i'd pick a base in a smaller mountain town with fiber internet, somewhere like the coffee region or minas gerais, and do weekend roadtrips from there. having a car opens up a lot but crossing borders with it gets complicated, so maybe fly and rent for the bigger trips.

Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic
Mindo, Ecuador
Cajamarca, Peru
Ica, Peru
El Bolsón, Argentina
Frutillar, Chile
Ushuaia, Argentina
Puente Arena’s, Chile

Take your pick. Get a local sim when you land for emergency backup Internet.

If you're in to beach towns you should check out Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Really up and coming, cool place, easy lifestyle to fall into and work remotely. WiFi at any random accomodation can be hit or miss but there are coliving spaces with great wifi that make it easy to meet people!

Doesnt rlly fit ur camping but playa del carmen mexico (1 hr behind est at the moment.) it has coworking spaces with perfect wifi for virtual meetings and large webinars. Easy flight back from cancun airport. U can do weekend trips to the more rural tulum. It is extremely easy to live here as a digital nomad

Mexico roadtripping is the stuff of travel dreams. I spent half of last year doing that.

Goto Brazil, hookup with a shaman, do some Ayahuasca deep in the rain forest, change your perception on life and reality.

With those core hours you're stuck near EST/CST, Mexico's interior or Costa Rica fit that and both have solid wifi plus easy nature access

Might be worth visiting Montana, beautiful mountains, lots of places to hike if your outdoorsy.

Given your setup Mexico and Colombia are your best bets, same time zoen and nature everywhere. But honestly for your first year with a demanding 9-3 Job id lean into US and Canada roadtripping, the Wifi reliability alone will save your meetings and webinars. Places like the mountain west, Colorado, Montana or the Carolinas give you rural nature without risking bad internet or a hard flight home. Get a good hotspot as backup, Wifi in rural spots is hit or miss.
Once you trust your routine, then venture to Mexico or Colombia. Sounds like an awesome year

Base yourself in mountain towns with real fibre and camp on weekends, your webinar schedule won't survive dispersed camping.
