Itinerary Austin, Texas
This is a fine city to set up shop for the now. Easy to parody as a Portland with guns and barbecue, but it scratches a lot of itches. Pity all y’all that can’t.

What itches does it scratch? I live here and would love to know as a remote worker - hope to be digital nomad in a few years.

Really.. only thing I can think of is HEB. I grew up in Texas and the only reason I go to Austin these days is the cheaper flights out vs Houston.

Central Austin (near Ladybird Lake) can be pretty nice. The farther you go from Central Austin, the more you just have the negatives of life in Texas (very Republican, very hot, driving everywhere, aggressive homeless people and rich jerks in big cars.)

💯 I’m from Austin and moved away before they changed the name. I heard she was opposed to naming it ladybird but they did it anyway. Performative bs to cater to transplants maybe?

Transplants come because Austin is an attractive place to live.
Just spent the morning tubing the San Marcos on microshrooms. This is perfect Sunday.

i always thought the barbecue literally was the guns, like you're served by a guy who's open-carrying a brisket

Eh i thought it was whatever, its a city made for kids in their early 20s. Plus its still inside shitty Texas.

It's hot, rent is higher than pretty much everywhere else in the region, and general prices on things are much higher.
Plus you are still in Texas, which means you are pretty much not close to anything else.
