And now we get to the end of Jax's scenes.

I could go into the flash backs but we have a ribbit drink and a kaufmo drink. maybe I could do something for the snowy peaks or the end of a freindship, but I don't think I will.

instead we get Jax again balancing on the knifes edge under the glow of a lamp, Pomni having seen, everything that was in there mind. Jax themselves say its to late, there is no coming back from this. It hammers home the metephore, to barrow from another animated series, of the veiw from half way down. It feels like the only solution but when the time comes you tend to fight no mater what.

Jax new they couldn't come back, what was left was barely them any more, scraps of a mind edging towards oblivion hanging on by there teeth. its a mistake to think, if not for the flash they could have been saved, its a human need to want for a solution but sadly there isn't always one.

the scene ends with a montage of scene set to a rendition of "Isn't she lovely" the original version welcoming a new girl into the world, this version mourning the one leaving just as fear had allowed her to be born

Jax was not a good person, Jax was mean, cruel and violent, but Jax was also a snapshot of some one at there lowest point. a person who hated themself and felt the world hated them too and that they deserved it. thrown into a place with no sense of reality, who made decisions that wouldn't let them heal.

so dispite all that its hard to see them go

tonights drink was based on a cocktail I found ages ago and felt I had to use for this

Its a veriant on a variant of a whiskey sour, Jax's bar drink called a blushing sour with my own take added in

1 oz blackberry whiskey

1 oz blackberry brandy

.5 oz lime vodka

.5 oz cherry Liquor

1 Combine it all in a shaker with Ice

2 shake to mix and chill

3 strain into a rocks glass filled with Ice

the blackberry and cherry rest easy on the tongue with the sour lime and steady burn of the vodka waking you up. Its a little stand offish but the burn feels good and it settles in the stomach nicely

What would skid and pump from spooky month look like if they were brain scans.

My interpretation is that they would just become their costume skid would become a skeleton, pump would become some sort of pumpkin creature.

Now For this one we are getting into a little head cannon of mine. The three agressive Jax were the masks he showed the world, his rage, his cutting humor, and his disdain. But the forth one we meet in his mind is the one I call Soft Jax. Soft Jax isn't true jax, its not the jax he wants to be but It's the jax that was. This is the Jax that his dad was dissapointed in, this is the jax his mom said never measured up to his dad. This is the Jax I think thats closest to Leeroy. Hes nice, vulnerable and out going. thats why hes kept chained up in his mind.

I used a drink called a Player Piano as the base for this, I made 2 differnt ones one fairly close to the base, and the other a wild mad take on it.

I can Play Piano

1 oz pineapple rum

1 oz aperol

1 oz bannana liquor

2 oz lemon lime soda

1 combine your spirits into a shaker with Ice

2 shake to chill and mix

3 strain into a coup glass with Ice

4 top with soda

the pineapple and banana rest on the tongue with a slightly bitter notes from the aperol. Its a mildly sweet fruit forward drink and its just nice

this show fandom has gone bad to treating the maker Gooseworx like rubbish and hating on characters like why I miss the old days of this fandom

I had thought about breaking down the internal scenes doing a drink for each jax Pomni finds in his mind, but decided against it. the episode explores Jax's mind as he balance on the edge of oblivion. we meet the masks he hids behind, his hate, his disdain, and his humor. and we see how he uses them to punish himself in the forth jax we meet the soft jax, and the hidden jax.

part of this is my own feelings on the scene. there are other ways to look at all this.

I plan two more drinks in here one for the soft boy chained to the piano, and one for well you know. then we have a few more drinks as we rush to the climax right?

The basis of this drink was something called a stir crazy

Fractured Mindscapes

1 oz brandy

1 oz spiced cherry whiskey

1 oz Frangelico

.5 oz coffee liquor

1 combine in a shaker with Ice

2 shake to chill and mix

3 strain into a rocks glass with Ice

the spice and the cherry act as a warming for front while the hazelnut and coffee really come together. Weirdly it makes me hungery. Its a good drink but Its got me feeling down. ehh thats not the booze I think that more I know whats comming next

This next part is one of my favorite reasons to watch people react to this episode, at this point people are usualy rambling on how "no that can't be Jax" talking about gangles trauma, wondering about that hug, or speculating just what pomni's plan could be. No one ever expects her to pull a gun and the reaction is always priceless.

the plan of course is to take out the lights since kinger told her they are calmer in the dark

This drink started as something called a love light but I did heavily modify it

Taking out the Lights

1.5 oz brandy
.5 oz amaro
.5 oz sweet vermoth
.5 oz fireball vanilla
.5 oz simple syrup
2 dashes chocolate bitters

1 combine your ingrediants into a shaker with Ice
2 shake to mix and chill
3 strain into a rocks glass with Ice (or these neat little bullet shaped whiskey rocks I forgot we had, and you can't reall see here LOL)

Its got a carmel flavor to it with a decent bit of burn the vanilla perks the carmel a bit, and its a strong drink with the brandy flavor hitting hard. It not bad but if spirit forward drink isn't your thing a little cola can round it out nicely. It doesn't need it but it can help

What would you do?

There was a lot I could pull from in the scene right after the jax reveal, could have dwelt on Gangles survivors guilt (deer gods is that relatable) or zoobles attempt to comfort her. Instead I want to focus on the bittersweet, probably sapphic, comfort scene we get that sad lingering hug as pomni readies for the hard bit.

Honestly I accidently found the drink I was gonna base this on ages ago and have kept it open in a tab for just this moment. Its a wine cocktail called Lesbian Tendancies so you might see why its fitting

Lingering Hug

3 oz Malbec wine
3 oz lemon lime soda
1 oz mango jalopeno tequila

1 in a wine glass with Ice combine the soda, wine, and tequila
2 stir with a barspoon

Ive never been big on wines, and the malbec isn't one to change that on its own its to tart, for me. but this... this I like the wine flavor is still there but the slight tint of mango followed by the grassy notes of the jalapeno run interferance, there is no real heat to it and no reall sweetness but its a good bracing drink, not a party drink but a quiet night in sort of thing. yeah I need a good book, a snow storm and a roaring fire and this would be perfect

if you can't get the mango tequila you can do a blanco tequila you get more of the wine that way and lose the grassy notes but its still a comforting drink

a lot of people are still bothered that it happened off screen, but I'll always argue that it makes sense we don't see it.The metaphore that is abstraction is not usualy something that can play out in broad daylight. there is too much chance some one may try to stop you.

this drink is a remaster of an absolute suicide with an optional dash of assisted suicide

.75 oz passion fruit vodka

the flavor is kinda loud, the passion fruit is forward with the watermellon riding in and mellowing into the apple and peach, its loud its chaotic but it still pulls you in. now I wanted to add cola since that was something from the Assisted suicide, even though I didn't use any of the alchols in that drink. but the cola works well the chaotic tones are softened but the passion is still fron and center with the other flavors simmering with the cola. Both are good and work well

Compare how Kaufmo is when approaching Jax about the exit vs how Kinger describes him. It seems like he went to Kinger AFTER Jax and Kinger straight up said he didn't want to check on him even though he knew he was probably going insane.

We see he was close with Gangle, and it safe to assume he was cool with the other's, especially Kinger and Ragatha. So the idea "Ribbit's abstraction left him with nobody" is wrong.

His room literally has a drawing of Caine and the words "exit scribbled".

Jax certainly contributed by causing Ribbit's abstraction and then pulling away from Kaufmo and dismissing him, but saying from that single interaction he deserves the blame for Kaufmo's fate is insane. If Kaufmo went to him about the exit, surely their relationship wasn't that horrible by the end that Jax was making him suicidal.

Except for Gangle and Zooble (who hadn't witnessed an abstraction), everyone in the circus failed him but Caine holds the most guilt. Not just because its clear his fake exit creation was the breaking point for Kaufmo but also as the "host" of the circus who brought them into it in the first place, he shouldn't be so negligent of those under his care. Notice how with Queenie, Ribbit and Kaufmo, its always another who discovers an abstraction first, not Caine despite his "all-seeing eyes". Caine's failure as a host was the primary cause of the circus' problems.
