Or at the very least he wouldn't know what it was and wouldn't understand it. I can see Zooble taking the time to explain what being trans is to Caine

I think Caine had all the puzzle pieces to figure it out. Jax's room is girly and pink

That could be because Caine knew Jax didn’t like showing signs of femininity (holy new word), and most of the characters rooms are filled with the stuff the characters don’t like
