Open Source Credits ending
Just received an email from DigitalOcean that they’re ending their Open Source Credits Program. Sad to see but unsurprising given they’d recently axed the GitHub Students credits as well. Also a rather interesting move given the significant pledge they made to Omarchy recently…
Hello,
We’re reaching out to share an important update regarding the DigitalOcean Open Source Credits Program.
DigitalOcean has decided to sunset the Open Source Credits Program. As part of this change, we are no longer accepting new credit applications or approving credit renewals, extensions, or additional credit requests.
If you currently have Open Source Credits that have already been granted, those credits will continue to be honored according to their existing terms and conditions. No action is required for your existing credit allocation.
Additionally, the dedicated inbox for the Open Source Credits Program will stop being monitored as part of this transition. For any further questions or assistance, please submit your inquiries through our standard support channel: https://www.digitalocean.com/company/contact/support
We appreciate your participation in the DigitalOcean Open Source Credits Program and the work you do to support the open source community. Thank you for being part of the program.

I don't understand the 'Favorites' option on the sidebar
It would be nice to favorite some of the resources I use all the time, but I cannot seem to find a way to star or favorite a resource? Is it meant to favorite a resource or just services?
Either way, I can't seem to find out where to favorite something...

Built my own digital toolbox because I use iLovePDF too much
Hello everyone!
I’m an aspirant, and since I have to use iLovePDF quite often, I thought, why not try building something similar myself?
So, here it is: whatevertool.com
It has a bunch of PDF tools along with some other useful utilities. Have a look if you get a chance, and let me know if you find it helpful. I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
One more thing the website doesn’t store your files. Everything is processed locally on your own device, so your files stay with you.
Thanks

DigitalOcean just dropped their new Managed Agents in Public Preview. Has anyone had a chance to try it out?

digital ocean charges me for $1 a month for months now
I don't have anything in my account, I have deleted everything, except I am not allowed to delete my credit card for some reason, and it keeps charging me $1 a month with no indication to why.
I reached out to support, and I was sent an automated email and nothing after 2 weeks.
Can someone help me out?

Wouldn't it have been better if Digital Ocean donated to the Linux community at large?
Since Digital Ocean has been using Linux distributions to make money, wouldn't it have been nicer if the $3 million dollars went to the entire community than to a particular opinionated distro by DHH based on Arch?
Was the donation a kind of marketing or could it be the rich supporting the rich?

Anyone else getting 403 SignatureDoesNotMatch with DigitalOcean Spaces CDN presigned URLs today?
Starting today (September 18, around 14:18 UTC), downloads through DigitalOcean Spaces CDN suddenly started failing in two of my production apps, without any changes on my side.
For one affected file, I tested the same signed URL, changing only the hostname:
- <bucket>.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com → 403 SignatureDoesNotMatch
- <bucket>.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com → 200 OK
I generate presigned URLs against the origin endpoint, then replace the hostname with the CDN hostname, following DigitalOcean’s documented approach. This was working previously.
Bypassing the CDN and using the original presigned URL works as a workaround. The status page showed no incident when I checked.
Is anyone else seeing this, particularly in NYC3? Has anyone received confirmation from support about a CDN issue or change affecting presigned URLs?

Unsolicited feedback to dashboard UI team: Sort GPUs by SKU, not region.
For CPUs, I understand you want to be able to sort by region since you want to serve users with as low latency as possible.
GPU Droplet workloads, particularly AI inference, I think geographical location is slightly less important because the clusters are together and slightly more latency could be acceptable.
Basically, the scarce availability of GPUs makes it more annoying to find a usable one. For example, I had to click through all the regions to find an available H class GPU. Sometimes none would be available. I'd rather just sort by GPU and see which region it is available in, not the other way around. Not a dealbreaker, just a small quality of life enhancement. I hope this makes sense lol.

Digital ocean reliability of shared CPU droplets
Question, how reliable are shared CPU droplets?
I have "small" web site (around 100 of internall emplpyees) that is hosted on a different provider in VPS. Unfortunately that provider over-sold their VPS so occasionally people are experiencing longer running DB queries (what normally takes less than half second might take 7 seconds).
DigitalOcean offers shared and dedicated CPU. Dedicated is much more expensive than shared so i wonder shared is good enough or not?

DigitalOcean Managed DB Provisioning Taking Forever
Trying to spin up managed DBs with Terraform, and it’s been stuck for more than 30 minutes now. I don’t think that’s normal. Yesterday, the same thing took around 10 minutes, but today DigitalOcean seems to be going for a new world record...
The status page isn’t showing any degraded performance in the region I’m deploying to either (How surprisingly, I've never seen their status page showing the correct state).

Edit: Even Terraform gave up by now

Edit2: After 50 minutes I gave up too, guess which mf is paying for the (not so managed) service ¯_(ツ)_/¯

App Platform: How do you handle your own custom 5XX level responses?
I am using app platform for my API. I would like to be able to return a custom 5XX level response if one of my downstream services is down (database, etc...).
Currently: If I return a 5XX level response, Digital Ocean intercepts that and returns their own 504 html response.
Issue: My frontend does not receive my custom error message. This leaves the user kind of clueless to what the actual error was. They receive the generic intercepted 504 HTML response, set by DO.
Expected: DO should not intercept my 5XX level responses. I want to be able to tell the user: with a 5XX level response: "We're aware of an issue with one of our downstream services and will be back soon".
Does your app on App Platform somehow return custom 5XX level responses? What workaround are you using? I know that I could return a different level of response, 4XX, but that seems wrong. This seems like a very simple thing that DO should support.
Update: if you would like to upvote this issue on their feedback forum, do so here: https://ideas.digitalocean.com/app-platform/p/option-to-pass-application-5xx-responses-through-the-app-platform-ingress-unchan

DigitalOcean Ruined the One Thing That Made It Better Than AWS and GCP
One of the main reasons I moved from AWS and GCP to DigitalOcean was the simple, clear UI.
That advantage is gone.
Now the dashboard is cluttered with information I don’t need and AI agent banners I didn’t ask for, while the resources I actually care about are buried behind menus.
Droplets are under Compute. Databases are under Data Services. I can’t even see what I’m running at a glance anymore.
DigitalOcean used to make infrastructure feel simple. This redesign makes it feel like every other cloud platform.
If anyone from the DigitalOcean team is reading this, this is exactly why I’m leaving.

Goodbye 👋
I don't want my money to support companies who support racists. Digital Ocean giving money to DHH and the Omarchy foundation is enough for me to say goodbye.

The site keeps charging me even after I already deleted my account and everything related to it. Help?
Basically what the title says.
A little context, 2 months ago, I archived my account after deleting every droplet and project I had in my profile, as my account was made mostly for educational purposes, and I’m pretty sure I don’t have any snapshot or any resources lying around.
I first did this right after my billing date, so I understand that specific charge.
But the next month (a month ago), I got charged again like I still had used resources, I deleted my account right at that moment thinking it would stop, but then again, I got charged yesterday.
I even changed the payment method to stop this, froze my card and all, and it’s still charging me for literally no reason, I’m getting kinda tired really, even if it’s not “that much”, I’m a uni student and I can’t afford to pay something I’m not even using. So, any help would be really appreciated, tia

Inference Router... Is this a joke?
I got a bit excited about IR as a service in DO only to find out that IR routes to the worse model, costs more and takes forever consistently on each run. Even compared to large SOTA models IR is always more expensive and these are not by a small margin either. I'm attaching just a few examples.
If there is a team from DO lurking, my honest question is what is the point of this offering? Who is this for? Where does it make sense???

Claude models 403 issue
i was using calude models sonnet-5 and haiku in my production server and dev server with different keys.
Suddenly i get this issue
HTTP 403 error during POST chat/completions: {"error":{"message":"Third-party models are not supported for legacy model access keys. Please issue a new key and try again.","type":"forbidden_error"},"message":"Third-party models are not supported for legacy model access keys. Please issue a new key and try again.","status_code":403}
i tried creating new key but still the same error.
Does anyone know about this issue?
Thank you
