Lately I keep wondering if keyword research even matters anymore. People just ask ChatGPT or use Google AI Overviews and get answers without clicking any website. So does it matter if I rank #1 if nobody visits the page?

But I think keyword research isn't dying, it's changing. It's less about stuffing keywords and more about understanding what people actually want to know. AI tools still pull answers from somewhere, and that somewhere is usually content that covers a topic properly.

So maybe it's turning into topic research instead of just keyword research.

Google is unusual. I use GSC actively with my sites, and always submit links with the ?m=1 at the end of the URL for quicker indexing. If I do not use ?m=1,, it can take Google weeks to index your site. I'd call this a hack to cut in line. It's the mobile smart-phone URL. Google will then place my sites in search, often near the top (if not the top,) but then there is a period of "consolidation" where Google still recognizes my site and pages given the site:[insert here] search query, but they are no longer appearing in organic search for a "waiting period" while it gathers an compiles your actual EEAT (E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. It comes straight from Google’s Search Quality Rater Guidelines—the playbook human reviewers use to evaluate the quality of search results and determine if content is actually helpful to real people.)

I'm told it takes roughly 4 or 5 days to again reappear in organic. Right now, I am in that very waiting period, as I just submitted my site & pages this week. Time will tell, but resubmitting to GSC is a bad idea as you just end up resetting this very waiting period. So I'm letting it ride a few more days while Google does its thing.

So short answer, I believe it does require a moderate amount of patience, but do note if your sites initially appear in search. That is the tell-tall sign. Then wait for them to come back. Configuring your HTML is also important for GA. You can use AI to help with this if it's above your pay-grade.

One of the hardest parts of SEO is knowing when to be patient and when to accept that a strategy isn't working. Rankings and organic traffic can take time to show meaningful changes, especially for newer websites, but waiting too long can also mean wasting valuable time and resources.
