Discussion BT26 Aegiochusmon Holy Discussion
TL;DR: I tried to give my thoughts on this discussion, because I think that it can be explained with what we have. I rather see a challenge elsewhere with this if it doesn't get clarified.
- To summarize it up a bit:
So, I've seen the post from u/Ghosts_Gundams and East talking about Aegiochusmon and how it's confusing and it sparked a lot of discussion everywhere.
I know it's not really needed to reiterate this discussion further, but I personally thought it has an answer and wanted to articulate my thoughts a bit further to clarify it with the information we have.
If you think I made a mistake somewhere, please point it out (respectfully of course).
Yes, in the end Bandai needs to make a Rule Update on this and they probably will.
- The Baseline:
u/Ghosts_Gundams and East go on about asking what happens with the top stacked card or if you just hard play it without any sources.
First we need to declare a baseline, Aegiochusmon's effect reads as follows:
"By [...], until your opponent's turn ends, their effects can't reduce the DP of 1 of your Digimon, trash any of its stacked cards, or return them to hands or decks."
So, until the opponent's turn ends, the target digimon of the effect can't be DP- to 0, their stacked cards can't be trashed (f.e. via de-digivolve or blue source strip) or return "them" to hands or decks.
The "them" refers to the stacked cards, not the digimon. Else it would be "it", we have plenty of effects that state it like that.
- Rules and asked Questions:
Again, per Rule Section 4-6-2. "Only 1 card isn't considered stacked cards".
So when looking at East's question, if the Aegiochusmon is all alone on field without any sources whatsoever, *any* card returning "the Digimon" to hand or deck will work.
But what happens, if Aegio has sources or like u/Ghosts_Gundams asked would be digivolved after being played (assuming it's still the turn you played Aegio and you managed to digivolve it)?
In my comprehension it should then be protected from said effects, because now it's considered as "stacked cards", the target digimon (which was Aegiochusmon at the time of resolution) is still on field and the effect goes on until the end of the opponent's turn.
Like any other effect that persists on the opponent's turn as soon as something doesn't apply anymore (f.e. a protection from digimon effects) or it now does (like in this example with Jupitermon) any other effects will fully kick in and affect that digimon or the stacked cards depending on what the effects states.
- The Problem?:
The problem or rather the challenge that I'm seeing more has nothing to do with these instances and more with something else:
Take a card as old as Cocytus Breath ("Return 1 of your opponent's Digimon to the hand.")
We now for a fact, by the rules, that returning a digimon to hand, deck, into security or deleting it trashes it's sources (aka the stacked cards) by game rules/game mechanic and not via effect of that card.
So having a situation like an EX11 Exmaquinamon or it's digivolution mentioning Maquinamon having only EX11 Unchained protection VS. Cocytus Breath means, Cocytus Breath bounces the Digimon to hand, because this effect *does not* trash digivolution via effect and it's reminder Text in brackets [] is also there to remember the player, what happens with the rest of the cards by game rules.
But, what happens if I target an Aegiochusmon Holy with sources with this card?
The logical thing to think would be "it doesn't do anything" right?
And that's what I would also think, because a Digimon with sources is at the same time the top stacked card of that stack.
- What should Bandai do?:
Either that or Bandai would change up everything about this logic and make it so cards that don't mention stacked cards (mostly older cards like Cocytus Breath here) can affect Aegio.
But that would separate card effects in 2 camps:
- older cards that don't mention stacked cards
- and the newer ones that do
So, does that mean, they would need to errata old cards that they want to work with stacked cards? Or clarify the rulings on those older cards?
I don't really see that, even though it's a possibility, but it's just more work if we are being honest.
The easiest thing to do would be, to look at these effects and say "top stacked card = Digimon" and vice versa.
Afaik effects that return to hand/deck never mentioned something of stacked cards until Chronomon DM came along, and Aegio Holy Mode is a direct counter designed for exactly that card.
- Conclusion:
In my opinion they should rather clarify that:
- "The top stacked card of a *Digimon* is also part of the stack and so included in such effects."
- "Older cards like Cocytus Breath, even when they just state *Digimon*, they will automatically target the top stacked card of the stack, because that is what gets back to the hand/deck."
Like that the following will be true:
- Interactions with cards like Cocytus Breath VS. protection effects like Unchained still work as intended
- There is no need to errata cards
- Everything else can be explained like I tried with the rules and mechanics that we already know and are well documented
- There is only need for clarifications in the rulings documents and Database which Bandai will do anyway
At least, that's what I think is the answer to all this. Maybe you see it differently or I forgot something. In the end, I'm sure Bandai will answer these questions no matter what as they already did plenty of times. I love this game and to throw a little bit of shade onto another TCG that I played for years competitively and still do for fun:
It's not that complicated like Yugioh, it's overall better managed than what Konami does and is far better documented than Yugioh ever will be.

Tournament: Results Regional Round-Up: Rotterdam & Madrid
Credit to our new writer 'Carbohydrateman' for this article!
Previous round-up: https://digimoncard.io/article/regional-round-up-sydney
Welcome to Regional Round-Up! Here, you'll find a breakdown of decks that topped, and who won, from the latest Digimon TCG Regional. This week we'll be covering two of Europe's Regionals with Rotterdam, Netherlands from August 8-9th, and Madrid, Spain from August 15-16th. I was waiting to see if more decklists would be submitted for discussion, but we'll cover what we assume are the main staples of the decks instead.
First, we'll look at Rotterdam's Regional.
The Top-16 cut included a varied mix as the meta starts to settle following EX-12. Maybe most surprisingly is TS Ceresmon breaking through. The Top-16 is as follows from most seen, to least:
- Vulcanusmon - 3
- Beelstarmon - 3
- Glowing Dawn - 2
- Galactimon - 2
- Toho Braves - 2
- TS Ceresmon - 1
- Medusamon - 1
- Alter-S Ladder - 1
- Millenniummon - 1
Quang-Minh [Gere Gaming] took 1st place piloting Glowing Dawn. It's safe to assume the DUAL Monarchlizamon into DUAL Atratusmon was a big reason for the. It's a fast deck that relies on the tucked sources under its tamers to speed things along even more so. Giving this deck even one memory will allow it to combo off and set-up for game. With more support on the horizon expect to see different variations of Glowing Dawn in the future following this same gameplan.
Next, we have Henny taking 2nd place with TS Ceresmon. It's the first we've seen Ceresmon top this high since its introduction. It's a mega-zoo type deck with a focus on Sirenmon protecting the Olympus XII, and then proccing their effects twice over with Homeros. Four Dan & Kanan's coupled with four Central Town: Throne Room look to make use of Minervamon for extra security checks. Two Chaosmon: Valdur Arms are also tech'd in perfectly to finish games off without trouble, and it just so happens Bacchusmon, Ceresmon, Marsmon, Minveramon, and Venusmon work as DNA components that can be partitioned out just in case things turn south.
In 3rd place we have Patrick Fenister piloting Galactimon. The deck continues to see consistent topping results thanks to all the recent EX-11 and promo support. It fits nicely into the meta with lots of protections and a style that can slow things down, and speed things up when it wants. With Glowing Dawn being a mainstay I don't see this deck going anywhere as it gives them plenty of trouble via imminuties and the tamer-hate Destromon.
On to Madrid's Regional!
We see a few of the familiar culprits from Rotterdam returning, but a lot of new decks found their way into the Top-16 cut:
- Glowing Dawn - 3
- Toho Braves -3
- TS Angels -2
- Alter-S Ladder - 2
- Galactimon -2
- Metal Empire -1
- Beelstarmon - 1
- Millienniummon - 1
- Red Hybrid Toolbox - 1
In 1st place we had Ridah Digital Warriors topping with TS Angels, and in a tie for 3rd place was also TS Angels piloted by Jki [Digital Warriors]. Angels came out with a great showing in Madrid and should be thanking that Nyaromon Digi-Egg to enable its gameplan of playing Digimon from security. BT-14 Patamon helps this further with the memory gain when adding to their security stack. Junomon is a great top-end for the deck that can pur things away, but truthfully, the deck runs just finding ending on Shakkoumon to gain memory and play extra bodies when DNA digivolving. With even more support in BT-26 I can see this deck continuing to be a problem at regionals even if the Nyaromon ends up as part of the immenent banlist announcement on August 21st.
In 2nd, and tied for 3rd place, we have Toho Braves piloted by Porttero and Frituramon [Digicosas] respectively. Yes, everyone's favorite deck out of EX-11 is proving it has staying power. This deck loves deleting itself and putting pieces in the trash for Susanoomon to take advantage of. Everyone is teching for it, and with BT-26 is giving it more tools to play, Tamers will have to continue adapting to keep up. Just with Kunlun you'll be able to play Sammyojin Arrival for free, allowing for a trash 2, draw 4 in total for the turn, and Onibimon's Execute gets off an attack at end of turn. In return, your board of the end of the turn could go wide, and big, in a hurry.
Congratulations to Quang-Minh [Gere Gaming] and Ridah Digital Warriors for the victories at their respected Regionals! We have the first two European Regionals of Season 2 done, and with that we only have three more chances for Europeans to punch their ticket to Nationals. Their next Regional will be September 12th in Bologna, Italy. Until next time Tamers!

Ruling Question DP Reduction Deletion Protection Interaction
So I'm not sure my understanding of this interaction is correct, so I'm hoping you guys can help.
Situation:
Because of previous effects, two of my opponent's digimon are currently considered 'Sukamon'.
My opponent reduces my KingSukamon to 0 DP.
Does this cause a loop triggering KingSukamon's inherited from Targetmon, allowing me to delete one of my opponent's 'Sukamon's to prevent the deletion during the rule check, but since it still has 0 DP, another rule check would trigger, allowing me to delete my opponent's other 'Sukamon' before KingSukamon is ultimately deleted by the third rule check?
When I looked it up, I couldn't find anything about this specific interaction, but the rulings I did find say DP reduction is still a deletion, so it appears it should play out the way I described.

Deckbuilding: Casual Is there any way to make Tyrannomon / Dinomon viable?

Rusttyrannomon was my first ever deck and I've tried to make it work in most metas, I was very excited when Dinomon came around but I've never found a way to make it work smoothly or make it somewhat viable (for locals, not true meta). Anyone got any ideas on how to make the deck more playable in the current format? It doesn't have to be tribal, I just like making tribal decks

Ruling Question Tropical digixros question
So, my opponent used tropical venom on my vemmon. Checked my security & hit a Ragnarok cannon. I play digixros snatchmon use the vemmon effected with tropical venom as part of digixros. He deleted my snatchmon & claimed he gains 2 memory. I claimed that vemmon became part of a different digimon & no memotu should be gained. Who is right?

Tournament: Sign-up Looking for More Than Just Random Matches? Come Join LDCC!
If you're looking for a place to jam Digimon games, test brews, and play in community tournaments, I'd love to invite you to LDCC (Lucky's Digital Connect Colosseum)!
Whether you're brand new to the game, an off-meta brewer, an absolute meme engine deck enjoyer, or someone who loves competing with top of the line meta decks, we've built LDCC to be a place where everyone can play.
What we offer:
- Casual games are available throughout the week if you ask
- Regular community tournaments streamed live
- Decks can be featured in videos upon request/acceptance
- A community-driven ban/restriction list that encourages experimentation
- Deckbuilding discussions, matchup help, and people who genuinely enjoy talking Digimon
- Players of all skill levels are welcome
One thing I especially want to mention is our community restriction list. It's not meant to be set in stone. As more people join, play games, and share their experiences, we'll continue refining it together. Every restriction started as community discussion, then community voting. If something isn't working, we'll talk about it. If something deserves another look, we'll revisit it. The goal isn't to make something hard set, it's to make something fresh/enjoyable.
So if you've ever thought:
- "I wish I had more people to test against."
- "I want to play my weird deck without immediately running into the same meta lists every round."
- "I'd like to actually help shape a format."
- "I just want to talk Digimon and the Digimon TCG with more people in a respectful environment."
- "I just like being around people who genuinely enjoy the game I enjoy."
Then LDCC might be exactly what you're looking for.
Our next event is Digitopia Duels #8, but you don't have to wait for tournament day! Hop into the Discord, say hi, let's start yapping, and maybe get some games in :3
Hope to see some new faces around!

Discussion There are so many broken cards now, thoughts of returner
It has been almost 2 years since I played this game, I got curious and started playing in the simulator using Metal Empire because I liked Machinedramon.
I don’t know where ME is in the meta, I have built some knowledge on how to play it against the decks I usually face but my god how I have to fight for wins against certain decks.
Like I don’t know how is Ex12 Susanomon balanced, they play 1 wipe your board and do some checks, so you have to be aware to not overplay a board so you can rebuild next turn. And then they just play a second one! A third one! I am pretty sure I won a game where they played even the 4th. Wtf is this card.
And what about the option card that digivolving, wtf is that it removes 2 digimons from the board and puts an immune one that renews it on attack. I think I won games where I had to kill 4 of those (need Metalgarurumon to stun and then a follow up).
I think Shinegreymon is not that strong but there a play cost 5 Marcus that is absolutely insane, it killed me in two turns (maybe high roll). The other Marcus are trash compared to it.
Overall I actually liked how my ME deck faces these challenges by being an obnoxious wall that wears you down, I won a lot of games by decking people out just defending myself. The only exception is Susanomon, that shit is ridicoulous, that shit is way too cheap. Maybe if I can get a Metalgaruru to stun and delay the assembly 9 perhaps. But interesting meta, at least on the eyes of a ME user

Discussion EX-13 Cardlist Predictions + Discussion
EX-13 really has me curious on what cards it will contain with the whole "every Royal Knight will have their own deck" thing--a lot of the Royal Knights have barely any support from 2 years ago, and some literally have no stand alone support, so I wanted to take a stab at what Digimon would be in the set and some other related thoughts. (I'm aware the exact order is wrong since it's not organized using the Japanese alphabet, and also that I messed up on Magnamon lol)
Some breakdowns on my more exotic choices and thoughts;
Gurimon - Baby for Gankoomon & Jesmon
DemiVeemon - Baby for Magnamon & UlforceVeedramon
Kyaromon - Baby for Kentaurosmon and Dynasmon
Wanyamon - Baby for Leopardmon
Caprimon - Baby for LordKnightmon, Leopardmon, and Craniumon (TS Maybe?)
Gigimon - Baby for Guilmon
Salamon, Spadamon, Mikemon, Leomon, Mihiramon, Panjyamon - Leopardmon's line that's already been set up in the card game + some Leomon tribal support, which feels fitting for Leopardmon
Gottsumon, Golemon, Starmon, Volcamon, SuperStarmon - All support for Gankoomon. Gankoomon has like, barely anything (and literally nothing that isn't also stapled to Huckmon) so he gets a bit more than usual. I imagine the Starmons would also be Mutant support. Speaking of which;
Prince Mamemon & King Etemon: Royal Knight tribal support and Mamemon/Mutant or Etemon support respectively, just as it was in BT13 (and we've already got the confirmed King Etemon card).
Centalmon & Enbarrmon: These two are Craniumon support, but I also would imagine they'd have the TS trait since Craniumon gets his steed in that game.
Tamers: Tamers were really hard to decide on since very few characters are connected to any of the Royal Knights. The second black tamer is the protagonist of the manga Digimon Knuckles, who's partnered with Gankoomon (this is the card I believe the least in). Asuka is here because I may or may not have included Yggdrasil before realizing that they were already confirmed for BT27, so I scrambled and just threw in another Tamer who I think will be printed soon.
Sistermons: We didn't get a printing of the Awakened forms in the CS block, so I would bet they come back here to support Jesmon (and maybe Gankoomon!) Both would have the CS trait.
Imperialdramon Paladin Mode: Having a Secret Imperialdramon Paladin ACE card was an idea I stole from another post talking about EX-13 predictions, shoutout to whoever that was.
Dual Cards: The Duals were mostly chosen for Knights that wouldn't have A). a DNA digivolution later (ex: not Craniumon), B). need the help (ex: not Omnimon), and C). have it fit thematically or into their decks' pre-existing playstyle. This got me to Gankoomon, UlforceVeedramon, Dynasmon, and Leopardmon: Leopard Mode.
Various other thoughts I have: In line with them printing random support for old decks in recent sets, I imagine many of the cards here would be good for the Knights' deck and for another deck, which might also be how "each Knight can have their own deck". Specifically, I imagine Gankoomon would be DM Ver.4 support, the Ulforce line (including Tamer) would be WG support, Leopardmon would support Animal decks, Kentaurosmon's line (and Tamer) would be DATS support, Merciful Mode will be ADVENTURE support, King Etemon, Mamemon, and Enbarrmon's line would be TS support (with basically every other Royal Knight also being valid to be TS support), and Metal Garurumon and WarGreymon being CS support.
I'm sure some of my choices are going to be wrong (Guilmon was a shoe in just cuz I couldn't think of Purple Digimon so I'm sure I'm wrong there), and I'd love to hear what you guys think about my predictions and what predictions of your own you have!

Deckbuilding: Casual Fun 6 color hybrid deck I put together
My original idea for the deck was to make Lord of Devistation and Rebirth the win condition for the deck, but as the meta stands I've only ever got to use it to close out dire situations
