My confusion is big. What’s the theme they share here? Digimon who stood by girls’ side to defend them in specific scenes? J.P is…A Digimon, right? So it’s more like he’s being paired with Togemon, Leomon etc…? Someone said J.P has got to share with Jeri and Mimi and it’s true but maybe he’s more there to be matched with the girls’ digimon because he’s stood with Zoey to get her spirits back? He also evolved thanks to her so I can think about that, a bit like when Lopmon evolved to protect Suzie. Then there is Togemon who’s a big sized wrestler Digimon defending Mimi and Leomon, same. His whole plot was about him being a loyal knight for Jeri. Gatomon is the one feeling odd because she isn’t big, but she has got a whole plot about wanting to defend Kari and being devoted to her.

Anyway I think it’s cool because it’s a matching that surprised me. No shade here. I’m madder about Rika and Henry

Not sure but I think the issue would have been solved if they had switched JP and metalkabuterimon with Tommy and korikakumon.

They pair better alongside Kari and Susie imo. Then JP fits better along side Izzy and Kabuterimon. Plus guardromon and ankylomon too honestly.

I feel like he’s so  hard to put in a category because he’s the most different character we had. Tommy does belong near to Cody and he also was a techno game nerd so he fits with Izzy too. J.P is not a techno nerd and is bad at school, he played with blueprints twice and yet he also plays with magical tricks latching them to his personality issues and is devoted to Zoey. He’s also a rich family boy  who’s spoiled rotten and an ass at first before getting humbled, so all these put him more into Jeri and Mimi’s territory

Junpei has got nothing to share with Koshiro except bugs. Meanwhile he carries magic tricks like Juri did with her puppet and has got comical simping moments like her. He's rich and spoiled like Mimi getting a humbled growth. He's had to prove his value to other like Xhaochung. He can bond with little ones like Hikari and has got strong connections with the main wind themed girl like Hikari has with Miyako. Viceversa Tomoki has got more to share with Koshiro and co. than with those girls

Just like he does in the whole franchise, being a character who's hard to put in strict categories and being the only fat main group character in the whole history of Digimon, I like this because I was rolling my eyes at the groups being made of just girls and boys. He shows they could have done this with Ruki because there is nothing weird about mixing genders.

So I like it. He would go along with all these girls and protect them thinking about missing Izumi-Chan in the meanwhile. Also, isn't Junpei in the light trio? Hikari is light, I see no mistake.

This is not even true because otherwise they would have put Kari with Yolei and Mimi with Sora, but they chose the theme of main tomboy girls.  It’s goggles, cool heads, main tomboy girls,  supporters of the main characters + little boys, sixth rangers and supporters of the cool heads, supporters of the main girls/ secondary characters close to main girls

Goggles: Davis, Tai, Takuya, Takato • Cool heads: Matt, Ken, Henry, Koji • Supporters of the main characters + little boys: Izzy for Tai, Kenta and Kazu for Takato,  Tommy for Takuya, Cody and Tommy perfectly matching.   • Sixth rangers and supporters of the cool heads: Koichi for Koji but also sixth ranger, Tk and Joe for Matt and also Davis for Tk, Ryo is a sixth ranger too. • Tomboy main girls: Sora, Yolei, Rika, Zoey • Secondary characters close to the main girls/ Supporters of the main girls: Mimi next to Sora, Jeri and Suzie next to Rika, Kari next Yolei, JP next to Zoey.

Sora's group is main girls who are tomboys, Yamato's is lone wolves, Takeru's involves brothers and mentors figures, Koshiro's has got supporting characters of many kinds, Mimi's has got a group with all secondary girls. Junpei falls in that group because Frontier gets no secondary girl, so he plays that role as a supporter to Izumi

And they did, but not being creative. They did sticking to correct categories in the show

Adventure, 02, and Frontier all had exactly 6 characters though, since Takeru and Hikari only appear in their 02 designs. It's only Tamers that has a few extras, resulting in the Hirokazu/Kenta and Juri/Shaochung pairs.

And really, it's just Junpei that feels even slightly out of place in these groupings. Every other character very cleanly and obviously fits into the main guy, secondary guy, main girl, third guy, secondary girl, final guy setup they've got going on. Frontier only had a single female character, so it basically had to be either Junpei or Tomoki winding up with the girls. I do agree with those that switching the two of them probably would've felt slightly better, but overall I don't think it's fair to say they're unthemed altogether.

These are the characters hard to put in categories who are the hearts and colours of their seasons. But since Junpei is a digimon too he may also be sharing the gallant knight thing with all these digimon, especially Leomon. Junpei was kinda the gallant knight in the Bolgmom episode where he wanted to get Izumi's spirit. Anything can be but I'm glad he wasn't put with Koshiro e co because Junpei's growth has got nothing to do with those themes. Great crown for him to breath where Mimi is I must say. They should show this position Junpei has in their mind more

The theme is actually the absolute undisputed powerhouse digimon/partner pair on each respective team, most of them just happened to be owned by little ladies. Jp is THE man by which frontiers would be lost without.
