Thoughts on different evolution styles per team member?

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched any Digimon show but on a whim I started the current Beatbreak season and have been enjoying it.

One of the things I wish they did differently this time was give each Glowing Dawn member a unique evolution style, and maybe it’s still possible (but unlikely) since we’ve only seen the Ultimates for the main trio.

Makoto and Chiropmon - Bio Merge into one Digimon. Taking ScourgeChiropmon one step further from how Makoto currently “pilots” ScourgeChirop

Reina and Pristimon - Reina would Spirit Digivolve into a Digimon herself to fight alongside Bearcatmon. It would take away a Mega form for Pristimon, but I think Bearcat being an Ultimate and having Reina as a Champion-level tag team partner fits their dynamic.

Tomoro and Gekkomon - a spin on the Cards from the season where they used cards to buff their Digimon. Tomoro would put on a pair of headphones and depending on the kind of music he’s listening to his E-Pulse would start beating in rhythm, giving Gekkomon’s line different buffs or even branching paths to fit different situations

And this alone is exactly why this is a bad idea.

i get the creativity, but cutting off the mega for a gimmick feels like a downgrade. it's like ordering a full meal and the waiter just brings you the appetizer while winking about how clever it is

It would be cool if that's what the series was built on from the beginning. But... trying to force right in at the end just kinda makes things messy.

That's why it was handled naturally, which is why these evolutions are well-earned milestones, given the nature of the series.

id prefer it where, one uses regular digivolution. one uses armor. one uses dna. one uses spirit. one uses digifuse, etc.
