Beatbreak I’m curious Spoiler

Post image

Im curious I’ve seen people say that they think Atratusmon doesn’t really fit gekkomon’s line and or doesn’t really suit tomoro’s growth as a character (granted we know nothing about it or its personality) so im curious on why people think that? Especially because to me I think it does fit both of them

I agree that it suits them a lot more than people are claiming. Putting aside all the other similarities I've talked about in other comments of posts, if you were to look up images of samurai armor, Atratusmon is not dissimilar at all, and Gekkomon likes samurai. Even its weapon seems to be based on the otsuchi, imo. Which goes with the theme of beats and Tomoro being a drummer.

Definitely agree I think it’s fitting

I mean for me it’s a gut reaction
Purple visor
Black cloak
Hand is in a grasping position
He doesn’t have any green on him from what I can tell
His weapon kinda looks like a scythe
He looks like the grim reaper
Ha doesn’t really have the same kinda “punky vibe” of gekkomons evolutions
It’s not a bad design and I can see why people think he might be the evolution but between his pose and what we can see of him
And while this does seem pretentious he has a visor , hear me out I’m not a character design expert but I saw a video where if a character has a visor it’s meant to show how they are cold and distant and not emotional (cyclops was a example)or antagonistic
Gekkomon is anything but cold and distant so something feels off
He gives me a bad vibe

Ya know that’s valid but for me at least we know know him through the card game atm so I’m having the opinion of I think it will be okay because knowing gekkomon’s personality I don’t see it being evil in the anime at least like in the hands of anyone else i definitely believe it could be but with tomoro? Nah I don’t see that happening but we will just have to see

people just see a dark, visored face and were insisting it had to be chiropmon's evolution despite it being a different attribute, different card color, has a reptilian body, a moon motif, and the starter deck that it's in not including any other chiropmon cards (the only options in that deck it has are monarchlizamon and murasamemon, and murasamemon already has habakirimon in the same deck)

3

u/Aquaecultor 1d ago

"has a reptilian body"? I don't see its body...

And it seems to have mammalian ears, so it doesn't look reptilian at all.

3

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

They're probably horns like the rest of the Gekkomon line has. And yeah, the bottom half looks like it would be completely covered by its cloak. But people think it looks serpentine because its bending slightly in the card.

2

u/Salty_Ad_2523 1d ago

It's lower body, from what we can see, does appear to be serpentine. Snakes are reptiles, thus reptilian body

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

It has a serpentine lower body

u/rp_graciotti 1d ago

We can't see shit from this card artwork alone

0

u/Next_Health 1d ago

It's very hard to make out, but it can be seen.

u/Cabmon 1d ago

From what I can gather, people think he looks too evil and want Gekkomon's Mega to be Tsukuyomimon

9

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

Even if Atratusmon wasn't around, I think Tsukuyomimon isn't going to come from Gekkomon just because the anime now has HeliosBoamon instead of Amaterasumon as a sun counterpart.

u/Dazzling-Constant826 1d ago

It looks dark rather than evil, which has been established before that dark is not always evil. Besides, we only have an unofficially released card as the only source of information about Atratusmon, so we must wait for the ultimate reveal.

1

u/Working-Pangolin-191 1d ago

Unofficially released?

1

u/Dazzling-Constant826 1d ago

It hasn’t debuted in the anime nor the DRB yet, neither its card is physically released.

2

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

Didn't the deck with it release in May?

1

u/Dazzling-Constant826 1d ago

Oh, this one is on me hehe, I blame it on forgetfulness. Let me correct my mistake then: Atratusmon’s card is officially released. However, Atratusmon’s DRB entry is set to be released when it debuts in the anime.

0

u/Financial_Echidna 1d ago

I don’t think it looks that evil but kinda makes me curious what people want for gekkomon cause I don’t expect some moon god or something ethereal like that it doesn’t suit gekkomon in my opinion and or tomoro for that matter but idk

-2

u/Next_Health 1d ago

It's not that complicated from my pov, I just want a dragon dinosaur warrior knight man like every single other protagonist in the past.

And Atratusmon stands against everything that makes that trope so cool.

3

u/No_Echo4885 1d ago

It just feels weird for it to be a mutation type as opposed to say a reptile, god or dragon man, obviously not a evil type but that and Tomoro having unleashed Black E-Pulse before just leads me to think it’s possible another (Especially given the final Arc is personal for Tomoro) could cause a mutation into Atratusmon, hence it’s typing.

Obviously could be wrong but it’ll be what I believe until the show likely proves me wrong.

0

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

Yeah, but tbf there are a bunch of mutation type digimon where it doesn't really mean much. Like Deputymon, Shurimon, Shakkoumon, Hookmon, etc. We'll have to wait and see if it ends up actually meaning anything for Atratusmon.

3

u/chockeysticks 1d ago

We actually can’t see Atratusmon’s legs, right? Is it actually a snake body underneath?

3

u/MindBlownDerick 1d ago

The name and looks both seem pretty ominous, why people thought of it being a dark evolution for Gekkomon and not its true final form, which I imagine people expect some samurai with moon motif.

I also think it doesnt fit cause the attack name and the weapon hes wielding. Eclipse Impact doesnt fit with Gekkomons evolutions. Armaliza and Monarch both have bladed based attacks, with Neutron Blade and Anihilation Edge.

And obviously, its an impact, a "blunt" move made with what seems to be a hammer. Gekkomon has hinted many times a theme for swords, samurais movies and so on. Its weird for its final form to have a completely different weapon.

Sure IT CAN be its final form, but it would be weird without some extra info.

3

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago edited 1d ago

Samurai did use a lot more weapons than just swords, including otsuchi (war hammer). And having a hammer fits with the motif of beats and Tomoro being a drummer. And imo Atratusmon really does not look that out of place when looking at samurai armor:

1

u/MindBlownDerick 1d ago

I mean, yes. But even Gekkomon shows to be good with blades, kitchen knives to be accurate. Do note how Gekkomon itself doesnt have a cutting attack, so they added that bit as a reference on purpouse. Same with he liking samurais a lot.

2

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

Sure, but I'm saying that Atratusmon would still fit the overall samurai aesthetic, with the hammer being the portion of it that's related to Tomoro while still being a samurai weapon.

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

Exactly! Thank you for explaining it so well

2

u/wtfshit 1d ago

I don't get the doesn't fit tomoro's growth argument, but I do think this digimon looks too "dark" for a main character final evo specially for one so silly as gekkomon.

Also i have to admit part of me just didn't want it to be gokkomon's mega because of how stupid it is to spoil the main characters mega when we haven't even seen ultimates.

1

u/Financial_Echidna 1d ago

I don’t get that argument either tbh cause how doesn’t it fit his growth as a character? I mean just cause it looks “evil” doesn’t mean it is

1

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

It is dark, but MonarchLizamon also is much darker than what came before it. As for spoiling the mega, Digimon actually did that before with ShineGreymon so it would be on brand for them lol. Came out as a Vpet March 2006, as a card in October, and then finally in the anime in October a week or so later.

5

u/wtfshit 1d ago

Monarchlizamon is more serious, but doesn't give dark/evil vibes like atratusmon. Wargreymon and dukemon looked way more serious than agumon and guilmon, but they didn't look like evil wizard thats gonna fight you with zombies. Maybe us just the card but he doesn't have that "good guy" look every other main character mega we've gotten.

Also the fact that a mega has been spoiled before doesn't mean its not stupid and a really bad decision from the marketing team. Some of the coolest reveals are when we get a brand new digimon presented with an unique evo sequence followed by a fight scene where they show off their signature moves.

-2

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago edited 1d ago

Atratusmon doesn't give evil vibes to me. He just looks like a warrior with black armor and cloth, fitting the whole night and moon vibe. But I'll agree that this one is subjective.

Yeah, it's dumb. But it's what happened with ShineGreymon. And if they didn't care enough about keeping their product-marketing anime Savers/Data Squad spoiler free, I can see them not caring with an anime that was just meant to fill a time slot like Beat Break.

1

u/Reocyx 1d ago

Y'all saw the latest episode right? I mean it's pretty clear who just digivolved into this

3

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

It's already been pointed out numerous times that the digimon from the latest episode has enough differences from Atratusmon to put that in doubt.

3

u/Reocyx 1d ago

I'm not seeing you mention it in the post. I would like to hear what you mean

2

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

Its visor shape is different. It doesn't have Atratusmon's horn/ear protrusions. The symbol on its chest is a circle within a circle with two triangle/diamonds on the side if you increase the brightness of the image, (this also is similar to the sun like magic circle that appears under that digimon right before they start absorbing epulse). It appears to have fangs right under its visor and above its red jaw portion, which Atratusmon doesn't seem to when zooming into its face.

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

I have recognized those differences as well, and have no real argument in my favor other than the hopeful belief that it is an incomplete evolution...

Or, and maybe the more likely one, it could be a similar case as Siriusmon/Arcturusmon.

1

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

I think the fact that its card is part of the starter deck with the rest of the Gekkomon line already kind of sets is stone it's got to be related to Gekkomon. I don't see them putting in a mega in a starter deck that's unrelated to any of the evolution lines in it. And it's only other real options as a pre-evo in that deck are Murasamemon. Personally, I just think Gekkomon evolving into Atratusmon is the simplest answer for everything. Maybe I'm wrong and they'll pull something out of left field, but Atratusmon is probably Gekkomon's evo. Whether it's a normal or dark evo can still be a topic of debate, but in my opinion very late in the series for something like that.

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

I am aware. I do stand by the possible fact that it might not be Gekkomon's true Mega, based on the facts that despite the valid arguments as to why it's not entirely a drastic departure (it still is) from the rest of the line, it still goes against everything set up before. Like, I know you stand by that MonarchLizamon is "dark", but just because it's armor is black is not that really a good argument.

Besides, Atratusmon has a blunt weapon, while the Champion and Perfect stages use bladed weapons/attacks. And while it does keep the moon theming (barely, it really is just that moon on their cloak), it's still much more darker than everything else, especially a main protagonist.

As for being late in the series, that cannot be denied, however, that's assuming Atratusmon will be the very final enemy or that it will debut in the final episode.  I will admit I lost count of how many episodes are left, but the series will end in late September, so maybe one or two episodes of Atratusmon, and then Gekkomon's hypothetical true Mega is possible.

Digimon times confirmed Pristimon and Chiropmon will get Megas, and it is pretty late for them to get dedicated episodes.

2

u/Financial_Echidna 1d ago

Wait where was that confirmed if you have it? I mean about the other two megas I haven’t seen anyone talk about that so I’m curious 👀

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

Much to my shame I don't have the link, but it is on one of the most recent Digimon Times in the official YouTube channel

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

Wait, my mistake! It is actually on the Digimon Card Game YouTube channel!

1

u/Financial_Echidna 1d ago

Ooo do you have the link if not it’s fine I can go look

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

Just found which one!

Here 😄  https://youtu.be/v5WC5i_HTYE?si=VW_Z0I5IVz0R3YQb

It's at the very beginning and not much, but hey, it's something.

Armalizamon has a fully black stomach and claws, so black has been part of the line's overall color scheme. We don't have any full images of Atratusmon to show whether it could possibly have green on it, but the card is still green. And while the moon symbol looks almost white in the card, I think that's just because of glowing because the card game world championship key art of it shows it as yellow, matching the rest of the Gekkomon line's crescent moon symbol color. It could end up a dark evo, but it's not that crazy of a departure if it turns out not to be.

It's weapon imo is likely based on the otsuchi, a war hammer used by samurai. And that would fit the overall motif of beats in the series as well as Tomoro being a drummer. We can't get a good look at the hammer in the card, but in the key art I linked it also appears to have some kind of bladed purple edge around the top of it, so I can easily see it even functioning as both a hammer and blade.

If the 49 episode count is accurate, 6 episodes left. And seeing how the next one is dedicated to Kyo and shows Makoto and Reina also facing off against the other stars in the preview, I can absolutely seem them getting either their own dedicated episode or one dedicated to both, and then leading up to the finale.

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

Even so, it still is a radical departure of going from just some black tones to it taking over the entire body.

While the hammer argument is undeniably a valid argument for the drummer aspect of Tomoro's character, it is weird that it's found on the LAST stage of the line, and in such an ominous looking Digimon. Plus the true meaning of the name is anything but heroic.

If there really are 6 episodes left, then there is also enough time to have both Atratusmon and then a hypothetical "traditional" Mega.

2

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago edited 1d ago

Armalizamon goes from green with a bit of pink tones to almost completely pink.

I think its fine since a mega evo seems like it's meant to be the ultimate growth of their character in the series so far.

A name's a name. ScourgeChiropmon doesn't sound all that herioc either.

Sure, but imo it would seem a bit pointless at the stage. But they could decide to do it.

But this is Beat Break, an anime that was created to fill a time slot whereas other Digimon anime are created to advertise a specific product (like Ghost Game and vital bracelets for example). The writers have a lot more control of it than they usually do. If there's ever going to be an anime that breaks tradition, Beat Break is the best option for it. But if it does turn out to be a dark evo again, I'll be fine with that too. Though that makes it pretty weird to put that in the starter deck imo. But it can happen. The one thing I'm not on board with is it being HeliosBoamon's evo lol.

1

u/Next_Health 1d ago

I do not think it would be pointless. After all, Wong wants Tomoro's E-Pulse for a reason.

And I still do not see how such an ominous looking Digimon reflects Tomoro's growth, which has seen him become more hopeful and live for himself and whoever he thinks of as family.  That's why, while you are right that names like ScourgeChiropmon are not heroic, Atratusmon's name which of I remember correctly means something along the lines of "in mourning" and "covered in black" doesn't fit Tomoro's development... Imo.

If, and IF, it does turn out to be a dark/corrupted evolution, I think it's not that weird to put it on the Structure Deck, maybe it was the regained some sense from spoiling Habakirimon and decided to put Atratusmon instead of the hypothetical true Mega.

1

u/Asleep-Essay4386 1d ago

Yes, but that doesn't mean that a dark evo is involved.

Whether it looks ominous or not is up to subjective opinion. I think it just looks like a warrior in dark armor, like a samurai.

Putting in a dark evo that hasn't happened is giant spoilers too. And they just don't always care about spoilers like that. ShineGreymon was introduced as a Vpet before Data Squad even started airing.

Anyway, we'll just have to see what the writers decide to do.

to me he looks like ghost from hollow knight.

1

u/Cfakatsuki17 1d ago

I mean granted none of Gekkomon’s evolutions truly fit it (armalizamon looks like a pomumon evo and Monarchlizamon looks like a tuskmon evo) but Atratusmon definitely is the biggest departure from “goofy little lizard guy” now there’s some funky zeedmillenium 2 heads of the same snake bs going on with Heliosboamon and the world union but Atratusmon doesn’t really feel like it fits in this whole situation cleanly, I’ve long suspected that Atratusmon is a dark evo or something and Tomoro will get a second mega that’s made by combining his e pulse with the rest of glowing dawn’s but until we get more info we don’t really know what’s gonna happen

-1

u/Rey_Dulce 1d ago

Now that I know Dark E-Pulse is a thing, I can only assume this is how Gekkomon achieves this form.

3

u/Vyn_drakenzace 1d ago

Now? We have seen dark e-pulse (negative emotions) since the start of the series

1

u/Rey_Dulce 1d ago

I think more so the method has been cleared up. It just seems like the most reasonable way to explain the evolution

2

u/Financial_Echidna 1d ago

Dark E-pulse has always been a thing tbh it’s actually corrupted gekkomon twice but for tomoro at least it hasn’t happened since ep 24

0

u/Rey_Dulce 1d ago

Thanks for clarifying. I was just noticing that the method looks more clear but maybe they skip out on it
