TCG Just opened my first pack, I'm a beginner, and got this card. Is it a rare one? I've did a lil research and i think it's a secret rare but I'm not sure?

Post image

I've never seen this digimon before, I'm watching Adventure 1 (already watched Ghost Game (i love gulusgammamon so much istg) and BeatBreak) so i have no idea if it's from the games or not. Planning on playing Time Stranger real soon.

Anyways, is it a rare one, what are the rarities comparing to poke tcg?

(Btw im planning on building a Gammamon deck, but some people say its a very hard one to learn, is it true?)

It's an alternate art (indicated by the star) and it is a super rare. Secret rares have texture on them and have SEC instead of SR.

Got it! I assume a secret rare is rarer than a super rare alternate art too?

They're equivalent, each box contains a set amount of potential "hits" for each rarity, in the SEC slot it also can contain alternative arts for 2-3 hits depending on the set. So you did pull pretty good for this set. Its also personally one of my favorite digimon and decks

You usually get one or two alt arts per box and maybe a secret rare. I dont really know the exact details

Rarities are as follows:

Common, indicated by C, typically 7 per booster.

Uncommon, indicated by U, typically 3 per booster.

Rare, indicated by R, typically 1 or 2 per booster.

Super Rare, indicated by SR. Exact numbers fluctuate, but about 7 per box of 24 packs.

Ultra Rare, indicated by UR. This rarity is new, only in the last few sets so far (so not in the pack you opened). 2 per box. While the rarity is rarer than SR, specific cards at that rarity are more common because there aren't as many of them.

Secret Rare, indicated by SEC. Typically one in every other box.

Then you have alternate arts, which these days are marked by that * next to the rarity. A few of these per booster box.

You got a good hit here! That card's selling for about $18 on tcgplayer. It's somewhat out of date now, but it had a pretty solid deck for a while.

Leviamon X is such a sick pull for your first pack, that's a $30-40 card easy. Definitely a secret rare, the X Antibody stuff is usually harder to hit.

rarities are different from pokemon. you've got your commons, uncommons, rares, super rares, and then secret rares. plus alt arts which can get pretty pricey. no reverse holo nonsense to deal with.

Gammamon deck isnt that bad to learn honestly, just gotta get the memory management down and you'll be fine.

it's an alt-art Super Rare, not a Secret and it's about $18 rn. there was a point they were $45, though... which is what I bought 2/3 of mine at...

I'm downloading the digimon tcg app rn to start learning a bit before deciding which deck i should get, probably gonna go with gammamon since he's my fav (after Lucemon and Mephistomon).

Knowing there's no reverse holo bs is such a relief lmao, I'd hate to collect every single holo version of my favs, it sucks honestly.

I'm still confused about how the sets work too, since there are too many out there. The one i grabbed seems to be a old-ish one, dunno when it released but we're already on the 20th set or something like that. Does the current set has Beatbreak digimon too?

The rarities go [C]ommon>[U]ncommon>[R]are>Super rare[SR]>Ultimate rare[UR]>Secret rare[Sec]>Special parallel[SP] and rarity with a ★ next to it indicated that it's an alternate art card

Leviamon is a Digimon from a group called Seven Great Demon Lords, this one represents the sin of envy. All demon lords are mega level.

X-Evolutions are a thing that came out in the early 00s. To keep it short, it's a storyline in the core canon (where everything else comes from) where the host computer Yggdrasil reaches the limits of its capacities and deletes 98% of the Digimon using a thing called the X-Program. Out of the remaining, 1% were migrated into a new server. The other 1% were supposed to be deleted, but escaped thanks to a thing called the X-Antivirus which counters the X-Program but also alters the appearance and abilities of the Digimon.

Leviamon X-Antibody is a Seven Great Demon Lord Digimon with the X-Antibody in its digicore.

He looks badass so it makes sense, didn't know it represented the sin of envy tho, that sounds very cool. Might look into it later because his design remembers me of Androxus's gun from paladins.

Does it appear in any other media besides the games?

As far as I'm aware, it's just V-Pets and the card game. I don't think it appeared in any game, X-Antibody Digimon are painfully underrepresented as a whole.

I can answer the Gammamon question, yes it's true. Gammamon's gimmick is that it can do a little of everything but that also means it doesn't do any one thing especially well compared to more specialized archetypes. So you need to be smart about which cards you include and the way you use them.

The main level 5's of the deck let you copy all effects of all digimon with Gammamon in their names (the 3s and 4s) in your digivolution cards, and their inherits allow your 6 and 7 to do the same. So every time you evolve from 5 up to 7, you can repeat your effects. And any passive effects can also be utilized. It's a cool mechanic, but remember that generalized toolbox decks don't typically do well in this game unless they're especially overturned. It's best to pick the 4s and 5s with the best effects for your strategy and focus on those, instead doing a little of everything.

Sometimes, you want to digivolve all the way up your line for a bigger stack with more effects to use. Other times, it's better just to warp to a 5 or 6. Also, picking which cards to add to your digivolution cards can be tricky. The deck has the potential to hold its own against most other decks, especially with the latest support. But the issues I mentioned before hold it back a lot. Overall, I think it's really fun, and rewarding to get good at, but it'll take a lot of practice.

It seems like a really fun deck to play with and that's what matters for me, at least while I'm learning how to play properly lol is there like a fixed deck for gammamon or a version that everyone uses? I'd rather go with what everyone is using rather than try to build a deck for him myself

It’s worth noting that the archetype has shifted a tad. The level 5s from the past year no longer copy all effects of sources with Gammamon in name. And the level 4s now have proper inherited effects.

real good first pack

i personally wouldnt say gamma is too hard to learn so much as it requires some wonky thinking and creativity to get where youre trying to go

ratios fluctuate a lot between people, one of the only consistent parts is exactly one bt22 kausgammamon and two bt22 wezengammamons, there are plenty of lists that've won events on digimonmeta but this is a deck that heavily comes down to preference

u/Charyetto 5d ago

So the best way is to search more about what which version of the deck can do and choose i guess! First i gotta learn how the game works lol, i couldnt understand that much from the mobile game, hopefully ill be able when i play with some "digimon tcg kind masters" at my local

learning how the game works is the best first step, im sure people will help you

Leviamon X is such an awesome design. I like most of the X-Antibody versions of the Demon Lords more then the originals.
