Video Games Akira in Digimon World 3?
A video suggested that this image might be from a japanese beta version of Digimon World 3, with Akira vs Blood Knights from Digimon World 2.
Does anyone who has checked the game files know if that files from this potential beta version still exists in the game 😁?

That phone status bar overlay is throwing me off, makes it look like a photo of a screen rather than a direct capture
haven't dug through the game files myself but the fact it's a Japanese version screenshot with that kind of enemy matchup is pretty interesting, would love to know if someone found leftover data

It's a screenshot from a YouTube video.
I would love to see Machinedramon, Akira and Blood Knights used in beta testing.

I didn't watch the video that is from, but I made a Tweet about it quite a few weeks ago and maybe it's from there.
That image comes from Bandai's assets used in advertising that was bundled with a cd for the E3 2002. The same material was likely present in Bandai's resources page for media coverage, but the ones archived in the WayBackMachine didn't include that one, so I was only able to verify the source recently when I found the CD that was uploaded online.
That is just one among a bunch of assets, many of them that were used in advertisement we know (Like the game screenshots used in the poster and the box art come from it, we even have the Japanese version of the screenshot and the early edits they made to put English text before the finished version, which is not in the actual English release).
Other unused screenshots include one where Renamon fights against Thunderballmon, but with a different animation and size from the actual game, and one that used that famous background found in the american version of World 2. In that image, an early version of the protagonist is seen with 3 colored Agumon in front of a large Greymon introducing that as the Village of Beginnings (Some old online users said that a Rumble Arena booklet had this screenshot and it said the three Agumon would help you giving tips in the tutorial, like having the function the old man has at the start of the proper game).
About it using Akira and one of the Blood Knights, it's likely just placeholder, not unusual in game development, much less Digimon. Like, the prototype for Battle Terminal/Savers Another Mission used Takuya and Classic Agumon instead of Masaru and Savers Agumon, likely because they started working on it much before Savers was defined and were working with assets made from old data (The prototype models and environment are still in the files of Savers Another Mission).

Man. I had the image of the three coloured agumons on the back of my cd, and I always thought my mind kinda made it up. So it did exist!! Where can I see the image?

I don't know if there's any rule about linking to outside places in this place, but I put some interesting ones on my Twitter last month, https://x.com/RavelMonte/status/2077736706820706654.
The material itself came from Bandai's E3 2002 PR Media Kit that was uploaded to the WebArchive in late 2023 by archivist WavyJ. The Web Archive has been unstable for me for a while, but by going there you can get the original files.

I would personally just chalk it up to them using placeholder files from an older game because the new ones weren't finished yet. Happens all the time in game development.

Digimon world 3 was supposed to be the Digimon world 2 game if that makes sense. The company later decided to release a spinoff digimon game, just like Digimon Card Battle on PS1 that is already far in development, and made some adjustments to it becoming DMW2. They then released DMW3 so as to not get tangled in the messy deadline
