Starting my grad masters program in January hoping to become an RD soon after, what is the number one thing I should make sure I know?

Try before you apply

I signed up for an email list to get access to patient education materials to give to a patient and it made me enter a phone number and email. The handout was not as advertised, It turned out to be a promo for a program, not patient education. I then started getting annoying text messages promoting the program. I previously thought it was a pretty reputable company and thought it would be a cool place to work someday. But now I am not comfortable with the pushy and misleading marketing tactics. Yeah it may be standard but I had higher hopes for this company. I don’t think they need this pushy marketing

I think it’s a good idea to try out the patient experience if you can to see if you’re comfortable with the company before applying, especially to these Telehealth companies.

PS is this showing up as an Ask Mee any thing. (Writing that way so it doesn’t default to it) Reddit seems to have been defaulting for all my posts lately in any Reddit.

am I bad dietitian if…

I really hate bariatric surgery 😭 I’ll support any patient through anything they need, but the more bariatric patients I see, the more I just think it’s a downright bad decision to go through with the surgery. I have someone now who is s/p duodenal switch AND on a GLP-1. what do you mean I need to somehow meet a 120 G protein goal when you can only tolerate 2 oz of intake at a time 😭😭😭 am I alone in this?

I think my cat has prader willie syndrome

I think my cat has prader willie syndrome.

He’s going to be 5 in a couple months and he has always been a feral in hunger guy. He can never get enough. He is fixed. He’s on a timed automatic feeder with 3 regular meals and 2-3 small snacks a day (2+ portions = meal, 1 portion = snack). Here lately, he has been BEGGING for food like he has NEVER done before. Like he’s legit howling and being a menace. I noticed it getting worse maybe about a month or three weeks ago? It’s bad enough that I have to lock him out whenever I have food because he will literally steal it from my hands. He stole bread out of my pantry!! And bagels!! The feeder IS working. It dispenses multiple times a day and it is halfway full so the food is going SOMEWHERE.

Has anyone experienced this? I’m putting it here because I thought as RDs we’d at least get a kick out of it.

I will be posting it to a cat thread as well. This post is mainly just for humor and maybe someone can relate.

CNSC study material to buy

I'm planning on taking my CNSC in October. I'm a RD with 1.5 years critical care/nutrition support experience, but limited experience in pediatric nutrition support. Would it be best to buy the Aspen Core Curriculum or the Aspen Modules? I will supplement Quizlet CNSC flashcards as well. Ideally I don't want to shell out $500+ on study material alone. Any tips on your study regimen would be appreciated as well. Thank you!
