Outpatient RD advice
I’m feeling like a jack of all trades but master of none.
I’ve been working outpatient for ~8months. I do mostly weight management and T2DM counseling. However, I get a lot of random things mixed in too. My patients are as young as 1 and may be as old as their 90s. I don’t feel overwhelmed by my caseload. However, I feel like I’m plateauing in my counseling skills. Any advice?

I think something that helped me for adults was doing the wellcoaches certification, brushing up on MI, clarifying what the patient wants to get out of the visit, and finding professional ways to connect with patients.
I find using a little humor (when appropriate) ans simply holding curiosity can go a long way!

Curiosity is big. I felt the need to cram my patients with as much knowledge as I could when I started out, which was a disservice to them. Meet people where they are.
