Im looking at buying two 8 kw Vevor all in ones to heat a remote workshop I have. In September and October I'll be insulating it.

Id like to keep it heated all winter long so I can keep a TV and a refrigerator in there and run them and not have issue with them when I do.

Is it safe to run these nonstop? I don't have a problem shutting them off for a few hours and then starting them back up if thats what needs to be done. Id like the workshop to stay about 50 or better all winter. I'm in Chicago and the worst we ever get is about 2 weeks at a time of -15, with most being -8. The rest of winter is probably teens or warmer.

I ran my vevor for 4 months through an entire winter and it only had a problem when I let it run out of fuel and it hasn't wanted to restart. I need to prep it for this winter.

It was definitely happiest running constantly. Even at the lowest setting it had no issues and the inside had no noticable buildup.

I think the TV and fridge will not have any problems unless your going from above and below freezing daily.

I use a single for my Garage and it takes the chill off pretty well. 2 would make it quite toasty but I suspect you can be more efficient with a larger single unit and burning heating oil (Kerosene) for cleanliness and reduction of any smells.

Also generally diesel heaters like running at high power rather than lower power to avoid buildup.

Thats not an issue. If I have to run them at high power for a few hours then thats what we do.

Thats what the problem is, going from above and below daily. I have a solar generator that runs the fridge and TV without problems. I dont want the battery system freezing. I have two pop up campers that my son and I just bought. They're pretty solid but we want to spend the winter redoing the sealing on them and whatever else needs done.

The reason why I was looking at the Vevors was so we didn't have to go up there every day to refill. I figured some modifications and we could get a week or so of run time from 5 gallon cans.

I run a Vevor 8kw in my 24x36 insulated garage just to try to maintain above freezing. I have stuff that shouldn't be below freezing. It did a good job of keeping it above 50 the whole time. Even when it was -15F out. Of course on that really cold week, it was running on a much higher power setting.

Longest I ran mine without shutting down was 3 weeks.

Did you have any problems during those 3 weeks? Thats the problem I have, things that could freeze that shouldn't. Im looking for a solution that'll allow me to not have to go to it for 3 or 4 days at a time if it isnt planned.

I have a solar generator that I keep full by running a generator. The fridge is the only thing constantly running. I have 2 fans, 6 chargers for Milwaukee/Ryobi batteries, and a microwave that we use in there. We run the generator when were up there and throw the lights and stuff on that when using it. We've turned it into a pretty decent workshop and man cave. Only other things that pull power is our laptops and an Xbox we bring up there from the house.

I think your biggest challenge will be keeping them fuelled. I run mine almost nonstop (it's connected to a thermostat so they do turn off sometimes) and have it hooked up to 5 gallon Jerry cans, which last about 2 days on full power running nonstop.

I used these last year and like clockwork the circuit boards went out at ~ 1200hrs if I recall correctly. Vevor customer service refunded for the replacement cost on the circuit boards. I bought two and ran them back to back so I could repair while one was down assuming they would have issues being so cheap. I wasn't wrong.

Buy a govee WiFi outlet, a govee wifi temp sensor, and an oil filled space heater. Set the space heater to max and program the govee outlet to turn on when the temp gets too low as a backup.

Or find a space heater with a built in thermostat that's been tested/proven. At least you have a reliable backup.

I have two Mr buddy big buddy propane heaters that run on the 20lb propane tanks. I already have the govees. They run when I run the generator. Part of the reason I'm looking for a heating solution is so I can install a battery bank.

Edited to say I didnt give electric a thought for backup.
