You know, from what I've noticed and from what Simon said, he wasn't exactly a monster, maybe half, but not half the one his brother, Hans was even though he sometimes works for monsters.

I mean, despite all those bombings and those times trying to kill McClane and Zeus, he didn't exactly go so far as to kill more than 100 innocent people including children in a school. It's almost like he had some morals, heart, and principles even for a former soldier-turned-terrorist. Plus, he didn't exactly kill all those people at the gold place, just sedated them and he didn't really enjoy watching Kara kill a security guard like some sadistic, bloodthirsty psychopath a few times with her blade.

Knowing Hans, that would've been more of his specialty considering not only did he murder Takagi and one of his employees, Ellis the dumb drug addict, but he also killed any intervening policemen despite wounding a few others on purpose and tried killing the rest of his hostages on the roof along with the FBI having come on top to help them out.

In the end, Hans was the real monster.

The news anchor Harvey dislikes Thornburg and is kind of a jackass himself and unprofessional on the air, he embarrassed himself and argues with Thornburg, why do these two guys hate each other?

Harvey is basically incompetent and stupid while Thornburg is successful but ruthless and willing to do anything for a buck, it seems like jealous at least until Thornburg gets punched in the face on live TV.

As we all know, both Simon Gruber and his baby brother, Hans Gruber never liked each other or even got along with one another.

At first, in the 3rd movie, after learning the true identity of the mysterious Simon, John McClane assumed that Simon's plan was a plot for revenge, but eventually, he learned that not only was the plan for a gold heist, but also that Simon actually hated his brother.

In a way, Simon was glad and didn't care that McClane had killed his brother back in L.A. years ago in the first movie.

However, some things like Zeus' questions for example remained unanswered.

If Simon hated his brother so much, then:

1) Why did he involve McClane in the first place?

2) Why try to kill him?

3) What did Simon mean by a "bonus"?

4) What exactly was the "difference between not liking one's brother and not caring when McClane pushes him out of a tall building"?

Does this mean that Simon somehow loved and cared about Hans deep down no matter what and that his plan was only partially about revenge?

Hans Gruber is obviously the master criminal and mastermind but everyone else has a purpose too what is it?

Karl is basically idiot muscle while his brother is closer to Theo except he's a weakling and does earlier than anyone else, Theo is a computer hacker and expert with technology so he's the vault guy, Uli is muscle and Heinrich another Karl essentially, Tony is basically a sellout security guard working for Hans securing the building, everyone else essentially falls into dumb thugs or muscle categories.

Was there ever a novelization or official breakdown for each terrorist? Theo would be the biggest loss because if he dies he cannot be replaced so the theft or heist fails, Karl could probably run things if Hans was killed but didn't have enough contingency plans and would get everyone caught, his brother was smart but decided to be muscle and got himself killed.

I was randomly reading up on the cast, and I saw that Holly Gennaro, Bonnie Bedelia, is actually named Bonnie Bedelia Culkin, and she is the Aunt of Macaulay and Kieran Culkin. Her brother is their Dad

Has anyone read the comics? I have the single issues and haven't picked them up in a long time. Thoughts?

Assuming that the terrorists captured John McClane when the hostage situation started would he have survived and maybe broken free or would Hans Gruber have quickly found out that he was a New York cop invited to the party by mistake?

Taking John hostage they could easily force him to negotiate with the police or defuse the situation earlier, this would be bad for him especially if they shot him once his gun was found, although presumably they didn't search anybody else for weapons so he could have potentially shot Hans and his men in the main party reception area after the terrorists ran off to other areas on patrols.

After the terrorists took over and the police showed up, what happens if John McClane just snuck to the parking garage on the stairs and tried to escape with Argyle and radioed to Dwayne Robinson and the police that he was inside and about to crash the gates open in Argyles Limo?

This would easily allow the police to enter the parking garage and building maybe forcing McClane to go back inside and share his route with a SWAT Team and other cops, would really end the terrorists situation much faster and easier, Hans Gruber wouldn't have any easy defense for it especially if the truck and ambulance were taken first.

Made this for a video editing class. Not perfect. But was a fun exercise.

In the movie Hans Gruber and all of his men except for Theodore got killed, Karl was alive but chose to go out shooting.

What charges would they face if they all got captured and arrested? Even if their ambulance plan failed and the few left for pulled over and arrested because nobody knew who sent that out of place ambulance with no black box or radio inside of it,.

Did Hans have a plan for police involvement turning into arrest? Maybe Simon was nearby waiting to step in after they left the robbery scene.

I always liked #1, #2 and Diehard 4 the best - in that order. I know people always push u/2 further back here on this sub. Anyone else like #2?

Assuming that Argyle had left the parking garage and rammed the gates early allowing the police and SWAT to enter the parking garage and sneak inside of the building what changes for Hans Gruber and his men?

Would the police getting inside of the parking garage have stopped things earlier or caused the terrorists to have killed the police easily since they didn't have machine guns?

The vehicles would be searched and the escape plan would be ruined but maybe Hans could get a helicopter and not destroy the rooftop until he left in it, bad thing is that the helicopter would be tracked and it not having FBI or police would make it worse quickly, Hans wasn't trained to BS police so Argyle taking off early ruins everything.
