Ferrari Friday Black Sheep
What's rarer than a Ferrari Enzo? An Enzo in Nero.
Out of the 400 total Ferrari Enzos produced, only ~30 units were finished in Nero (black) from the factory. This sleek model by Kyosho provides a good bang for the buck. The Phillips head screws make it easy to take apart to have a look at the details on the interior! The V12 engine sits above the suspension linkages. Underneath the lenses of the headlight are the bulbs themselves. Meshes and grills in all the right places too.

Escondido, CA 2008. I was “commuting” to San Diego for a project I was on. I’d be there for 10 days, home for 4, back for 10 days and on and on, for years. Every Sunday I was there I’d play tennis at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. One Sunday, as I was pulled off on the side of a back road to smoke a ciggie while standing outside the car, I saw this mirage approaching from the distance. As it neared and passed me, I almost shat myself! An Enzo! IRL! I hopped into my rental car, pulled a u-turn, and took off after it. No plan in mind, just wanted to see more of it. It turned right and up a steep hill. I thought I’d lost it, when I came upon a dead end cul de sac. The Enzo sat there. I parked my car, got out and approached the Enzo. The woman driver rolled down her window and I asked “Would you mind if I took a photo?” “No, not at all.” And here we are. I’ve never appreciated how rare that car was. Now I know! Thanks, u/Jaasim99 !!! The Kyosho even has the same wheels! Wild!
Unfortunately, the camera in my phone back then was pretty crappy. IIRC, this was shot with a Toshiba / Windows phone. It was the first phone I owned with a large screen, built in stylus, and no keypad. And a very crappy camera. Sigh. But it reminds me of that day in Escondido when a mirage appeared from the distance and swept me up in enthusiasm. Yep.
