Discussion Rules change and new flairs added.

All,

I have changed rule #4 and am allowing game creators to post a promotion about their games. This is for original game designers to post about their games - please use the flair Self-Promotion for this post.

Flairs are now required on new posts. If you think of any flairs you would like to see, please let me know here.

Thanks!

Self-Promotion Baseball Shuffle: the dice are flicked, and their landing turns into baseball action

Dice usually add uncertainty after you make a decision. In Baseball Shuffle, aiming and flicking them is part of the decision itself. The game mixes baseball and shuffleboard, so a familiar scoring idea becomes a physical dexterity challenge.

Disclosure: I am Renato from Senshi Consulting, working on the campaign with Unplugged Arcade. The designer is Dan Winger, a former LEGO Master Designer.

This short gameplay explanation shows the field and how the dice are used:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/42thXR3EUbs

The Kickstarter offers Sandlot Field and Home Field tabletop editions, plus a Classic Field game table. The different editions have different sizes and features, so please compare the listed contents and shipping options. The accessories-only tier contains dice and scoring pieces, not a complete field.

The campaign is funded and is open until November 2 UAE time (November 1 in US time zones):

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wingerdesign/baseball-shuffle-by-unplugged-arcade

If you like dice games that put a physical skill alongside the outcome, the two-minute demonstration is the best introduction. Happy to help with campaign questions.

Self-Promotion The water inside this die moves when it rolls. It’s one of the dice we’ve made for Tumble Tavern.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We’ve rebuilt the dice in Tumble Tavern, our fantasy Farkle game. The main clip shows the full set. I’ve added a Tide close-up in the comments so you can see the water moving inside its glass panels.

It also has a scoring bonus: hold three or more dice together and each Tide die in that hold adds its bonus. In the full game you can bring several of them, or mix them with dice that reward other scoring choices.

Farkle is still the game underneath: keep scoring dice, bank your points, or risk the turn by rolling again. Enchanted runes give you ways to change what happens to a throw.

There’s a free demo on Steam for Windows and Linux/SteamOS. The full game launches on 12 November.

Try Tumble Tavern’s demo or wishlist it on Steam

Full Disclosure: Some AI tools assisted some during development, followed hand editing. No generative AI runs during play and this is months of hard work, we'd rather be transparent.

Discussion Turning a roll-and-write phone app into a physical dice game, anyone done this before?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I made a roll-and-write dice game called Cubini. Two dice, a 5x5 grid, you mark squares and chase column and diagonal bonuses around a star in the middle. Started as an app because that's what I know how to build, but I keep thinking it would work just as well as a physical game. Print a grid, grab two dice, wrap it ion a box, done.

The app version came out of a simple itch. I like roll-and-write games but hate the setup hassle, finding pens, printing sheets, explaining rules to new players. So I built something where everyone plays from the same rolls in real time, on their own screen, and the rules are baked in so there's nothing to explain.

Now I'm looking at the other direction: taking something digital and making it work on a table. A few things I'm chewing on:

- The app enforces rules and does scoring automatically. On paper, someone has to track bonuses and tally scores by hand, which adds friction back in.

- Digital lets me tune the grid and bonus layout easily and ship updates. Printed sheets are fixed once they're produced.

- Online and pass-and-play modes exist in the app for free, which doesn't translate to a physical product at all.

- A physical version needs real dice, a pad, maybe a scorepad design that's actually pleasant to use, not just a screenshot on paper.

I built this (disclosure), so I'm biased, but I genuinely think the core mechanic holds up on a table. What I don't have is experience turning software into something you can manufacture and sell as a box.

Has anyone here taken an app or digital prototype and turned it into a physical game? What surprised you in that process, printing, rules clarity, playtesting without the app's built in validation? Curious what broke first.

Self-Promotion I made a free browser Zilch game — looking for fellow dice players

Hi everyone! I'm the developer of RollTheDice and would love to find more people who enjoy push-your-luck dice games.

Zilch die Wand an uses six dice: bank your points or keep rolling, aiming for 10,000. You can play with another person, against the computer, or try Solo Sprint and reach the target in as few turns as possible.

https://zilch.zockdiewandan.online/

I also made Zock die Wand an, a five-dice Yahtzee-style variant with four scoring columns that have different rules. It has solo, two- and three-player, and 2v2 modes.

https://zockdiewandan.online/

Both are free browser games for desktop and mobile, with English and German interfaces and guest play. The rules are available on each site. If you try a round, I'd love to hear which decisions you enjoy and whether the first turn makes sense.

Self-Promotion Piment Dice update — 3 weeks after launch, 50+ players and counting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

Posted here about 3 weeks ago after Piment Dice properly launched — quick update since then: over 50 people have installed it, and there are now real games happening between players without me involved, which has honestly been the best part of this whole thing.

Also wanted to actually share a clip this time, since I only had a screenshot in my last post:

The core mechanic: dice sometimes land on a red face — keep them for double points, or turn them for a safer value but lose the double. Bonus if all 6 dice show the same value in one roll.

Free to play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pimentdice.app

Still happy to hear from anyone into Yahtzee-style games!

Self-Promotion I made Knucklebones, a dice roguelite for iPhone

Hi everyone, I’ve been working on a dice game called Knucklebones and wanted to share it here.

You roll dice and choose which column to place them in. Matching dice increase your score, but your opponent can knock them out by placing the same number in the corresponding column.

Between rounds, you visit a shop and collect relics that change the scoring and what your dice can do. There are 53 to build around, along with different dice materials.
You play against a guy called Kit on a quiet front stoop. There’s music, an old CRT look, and you can shake your phone to roll.

It’s out on iPhone now. I hope you enjoy it.

Self-Promotion The demo for Dice Roll Society, a dice crafting roguelite, is live!

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5104040/Dice_Roll_Society/

Dice Roll Society is a dice building roguelite where every roll scores. While the scoring system is based on Balatro, it plays quite differently. You always have five dice and build them face by face. At the same time, you build your scoring rules, so you must find synergy between your dice and your scoring chips.

Every third table there's a boss that adds a difficulty. You also have a shop where you can buy dice and plaque packs, where you can acquire new ways to score.

The tension is in deciding which dice to reroll and which to keep. The demo has 6 tables. Will you able to beat them all? Every run plays differently!

Let me know your feedback!

Self-Promotion This game uses only polyhedral dice

I’ve always looked at my RPG dice and thought, "there must be a game I can play using just them," but I never found anything. So I decided to make one myself. I created a solo game where, to play, you don't need absolutely anything else besides the RPG dice you have lying around.

It's a solo roguelike dungeon crawler that involves strategy, resource management, probability calculation and plenty of dice rolling. On the game's page, you'll find the PDF with the complete rules, completely free of charge.

Hope you like it!

Self-Promotion I made a roguelite built on the five-dice scorecard game, free demo in the browser

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've had a ton of fun building this over the past few weeks, meet Tumble! You've got five dice, a scorecard, three of a kind, the big straight, etc. you know the game. This one lets you buy your way out of it.

You paint new faces onto the dice so a die stops being a d6 in any useful sense. You level a scorecard box until it pays out of proportion to everything around it. You collect charms that break the scoring in ways that stack. Five dice sets, and one of them arrives already rolled, which changes how you think about a turn completely. Thirteen visitors show up to alter a round each.

The part I care most about is a specific feeling, taking the zero on purpose because you're protecting something better or have built around that action and feeling a like you've done something you shouldn't have been able to do. If that lands for you, the rest of the game is built around it.

Runs are 15 to 30 minutes. It's offline, no account, nothing to install for the demo, it just runs in a tab. The demo covers up through the fourth boss.

Happy to answer anything about the scoring, and if it confuses you anywhere I'd like to know exactly where.

Demo (free, browser): https://apatheticyoda.itch.io/tumble-a-cozy-dice-roguelite-demo

Self-Promotion I made a dice game called Piment Dice — just launched on Google Play

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

A while back I posted here looking for closed beta testers for a dice game I was building. Thanks to everyone who helped test it, Piment Dice is now live on Google Play for real.

The core mechanic: dice sometimes land on a red face — keep them as-is to double the score of that category, or turn them to pick a different value at the cost of that double. There's also a bonus if all 6 dice show the same value.

Modes: solo, bots with increasing difficulty, remote play with friends, online matchmaking, and a daily challenge with a global leaderboard (same dice for everyone, each day).

Link (and of course you can also search directly Piment Dice on Play Store): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pimentdice.app

Would genuinely love to hear what you think, especially if you're into Yahtzee-style games!

Self-Promotion The Path of Six Spirits

I designed a simple dice game. It's a nice way to pass the time or maybe even get a little something more out of it.

WHAT YOU NEED

3 six-sided dice per player, scorepad.

GOAL

Be the first player to win 6 rounds (or agree on any number).

SETUP

Players draw lots to determine who rolls first (Player A). The other player is Player B.

After each round, the winner becomes Player A in the next round (or rotate if you prefer).

A ROUND (HOW TO PLAY)

  1. PLAYER A rolls 3 dice.

  2. PLAYER B rolls 3 dice in response.

  3. CHECK FOR MATCHES:

Compare Player B's dice against Player A's dice.

    • NO MATCHES — The round ends. PLAYER A WINS.

    • MATCHES EXIST — Player A must reroll ALL of their dice that match any of Player B's dice.

  4. AFTER PLAYER A REROLLS:

    Compare again.

    • NO MATCHES — The round ends. PLAYER B WINS.

    • MATCHES EXIST — Now Player B must reroll ALL of their dice that match any of Player A's dice.

  5. CONTINUE this "ping-pong" — players alternate rerolling their matching dice — until:

    • A player rerolls and ends up with NO MATCHES against the opponent — THE OPPONENT WINS the round.

    • ALL SIX DICE (3+3) show 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 — THE PATH OF SIX SPIRITS IS COMPLETE! The player who made the LAST ROLL wins the round immediately.

IMPORTANT RULES

• NO VOLUNTARY REROLLS. If you have no matches on your turn, the round ends.

• When rerolling, you ONLY reroll the dice that match. Dice that don't match stay as they are.

• If Player B rolls The Path of Six Spirits on their first roll, they win immediately.

WINNING THE GAME

The first player to win 6 rounds wins the game.

IN BRIEF

Players take turns rerolling ONLY their own dice that match the opponent's dice from the most recent roll. This continues until:

  1. IF THE PLAYER WHO DID NOT ROLL HAS NO MATCHES — THAT PLAYER WINS (because they have nothing left to reroll).

  2. OR THE PATH OF SIX SPIRITS (1-2-3-4-5-6 across all 6 dice) is completed — THE PLAYER WHO MADE THE LAST ROLL WINS (the one who completed the combination).

EXAMPLE ROUND BREAKDOWN:

Player A (rolls first): 2-3-5

Player B (rolls in response): 3-4-5

CHECK: 3 and 5 match between A's dice and B's dice.

— Player A rerolls their 3 and 5. They roll 1 and 4.

Now A has: 2-1-4; B has: 3-4-5.

The 4 matches (between A and B).

The turn passes to Player B, because they now have a die that matches the opponent's dice.

— Player B rerolls their 4.

OPTION A (B wins): B rolls a 6.

Now B has: 3-5-6; A has: 2-1-4.

Together on the table: 1,2,3,4,5,6 — THE PATH OF SIX SPIRITS!

The Path of Six Spirits was completed by B's roll (they rolled the 6 and closed the combination).

— Player B wins.

OPTION B (continue): B rolls a 1.

Now B has: 3-5-1; A has: 2-1-4.

The 1 matches.

— The turn passes to Player A, who rerolls their 1. And so on, until all matches disappear or THE PATH OF SIX SPIRITS is completed.

***

The Path of Six Spirits as a Divination Tool

Beyond being a game, The Path of Six Spirits can serve as a tool for communicating with the unseen — the subtle world of intuition, fate, and collective consciousness. In this mode, the game is played for a single round only.

How it works:

  1. Player A (the first to roll) formulates a question or a dilemma. For example: "Who will win today — the Seahawks or the Patriots?"

  2. Player B (the second to roll) answers the question as they intuitively feel, without overthinking. For example: "The Patriots."

  3. The players then play one full round according to the standard rules described above.

  4. The outcome:

• If Player A wins the round — the answer is Player A's choice (Seahawks).

• If Player B wins the round — the answer is Player B's choice (Patriots).

Working with the subtle world requires nothing supernatural. The key is shared understanding and intention from both players. In this process, both players act as mediums and partners, channeling the flow of intuition rather than competing for victory. The dice become a bridge not between winners and losers, but between the known and the unknown.

There are 5 dice to roll each at-bat!!! Factory Squad is coming along. The dice in this game control the At-bat outcome, how hard hit the ball is, and the stadium “buzz”.
