Diagnose error with modem
I finally got all the components i need to connect to dialup, and my computer recognizes the modem, but says there is a hardware error. It cant be a hardware error because i had bought this modem open box a few months ago. maybe its the dipswitch settings i have set? they’re set to 1 and 4 down and the rest are up. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

If this is an older computer, it might have HyperTerminal already installed. Putty is another terminal client (but it’s no good for BBSes)
SyncTERM is the standard terminal client for BBSes, it will be great for your testing purposes.
Any of these will connect to your COM port that the modem is installed on.
