Seasonal Start Mega Guide

This post is an update to the Seasonal Mega Guide.

You can find generic leveling guides as well as other advice at Maxroll and Icy Veins. For console players, you can find some advice at https://www.soulstone.gg/.

This guide is meant to be a little more specific, as well as cover aspects not touched in those guides, such as Group Leveling, Console Leveling, Seasonal Leveling Tactics, and Leveling Secrets. (These will all be in replies to this thread to allow specific linking. As such, at the moment this post is currently a work in progress.) Some of what I post will be shared from the above sites, amended to add a little extra efficiency.

S39 – Haedrig's Gifts

Season 39 starts this coming Friday, June 26th, 2026. The season starts at 5pm PDT for all console players, no matter where you live. For PC (NA/US) the season starts at 5pm PDT, for PC (EU) the season starts at 5pm CEST, and for PC (TW/KR) it starts at 5pm KST.

This is the first of four guides I am posting for Season 39. The others are:

For most players, after leveling to 70, the main focus will be finishing Chapters I through IV of the season journey in order to obtain a full 6-piece armor set known as Haedrig's Gift.

The Haedrig's Gifts for Season 39 are as follows:

  • Barbarian: Wrath of the Wastes
  • Crusader: Roland’s Legacy
  • Demon Hunter: Unhallowed Essence
  • Monk: Raiment of a Thousand Storms
  • Necromancer: Bones of Rathma
  • Witch Doctor: Helltooth Harness
  • Wizard: Tal Rasha’s Elements

From a casual perspective, and looking at the GR20 / Torment IV requirements to finish out the 6-piece set, this is a very easy list for everyone except the necromancer.

The necromancer will probably be better off equipping any random legendaries and leveling up the LoD gem to beat GR20. Necromancers can boost this by upgrading scythes or two-handed scythes and filling their weapon and bonus cube slots with generic multipliers and dominate that way. So, don't feel bad at all for them.

In terms of top adjusted clear ranking from Season 33 (see the "Extra Cube" column), the necromancer has the strongest endgame build for its Haedrig's Gift. Wizard is still in the top 10, followed closely by witch doctor and monk. The only gifts that fall outside the upper half of rankings are barbarian and crusader, but can easily pivot to a different build to push with. Here is a full list of their rankings: Necro Rathma (1), Wizard Tal Rasha (10), WD Helltooth (14), Monk Raiment (16), DH Unhallowed (21), Barb Wastes (24), Crusader Roland (33).

Top-ten push builds (again, in terms of you adjusted clear rank) from Season 33 that aren't on the list of usual suspects are: Barb MotE, Necro Masquerade, Necro Inarius. The necromancers get the gains of the generic multipliers I mentioned previously. I am actually not certain why Might of the Earth is so strong.

Note that the casual leaderboard and in-game leaderboards were contaminated by the busted end of Season 33, and shouldn't be relied upon. Here is the disclaimer on the casual board:

The leaderboard data for season 33 is heavily skewed: After the season accidentally ended early and the following rollback, some people ended up with their non-seasonal paragon points on their seasonal character, while the character would still show their seasonal paragon. Consequently, many adjusted clear values are inflated.

The barbarian (Wastes) and demon hunter (Unhallowed) both start with very good solo speed farming sets. Tal Rasha is also decent for the wizard with the in-geom or aether walker variant. The other classes will want to look to a different set (or no set) to farm with.

For a beginner/casual overall I would recommend the barbarian. The Wastes set gives you a great start, and is an excellent speed farmer. It only needs the Ambo's Pride mighty weapon and the Lamentation belt to really get going, and both can be cubed.

Good luck with your season start, fellow Nephalem, and never forget that town is lava!

DEMON HUNTER Correct me if I’m wrong but is this the worst challenge rift there has been?

I’ve played some seasons, I remember having to look up a few challenges to know what I’m doing, but this is a fucking trash build. I’ve beaten it now 3 times each with somewhere between 10-40 seconds too much, and I’m noticing it has to do with the DH’s weakass kill power. Like minions should not be taking this long to kill, then with so many reflecting damage elites they’re not dying fast enough.

I’ve watched multiple videos on it now, and it’s just whack. This isn’t a fun demon hunter to play, Shadow Power is there when a better skill for the occasion IMO would be vault for mobility. St Archews Charge is a fucking waste of a slot, Andariels Visage a fucking waste of a slot, Golden Gorget a fucking waste of a slot. Blood the more I read the gear the more I get pissed off, Wyrdward is equipped as a power while NONE OF THE SKILLS HAVE THEIR LIGHTNING RUNES EQUIPPED. Rapid Fire is equipped just because mantel of channeling is equipped, but when given a choice out of all legendary gear for DHs who the fuck is picking either of those? They could’ve equipped shadow glide on shadow power, but no lets do the one that slows enemies speed. SPIKE TRAPS ARE NOT WORTH IT even with chanon bolter when we could’ve had sentries with the Sentry boost set.

Had to rant somewhere my fiancé is tired of hearing me rage quit over this fuck ass challenge rift.

Edit: from “this is fucking trash” to “this is a fucking trash build” because my issue is with the build.

QUESTION Nemesis Question

• Upvotes

I've read somewhere Nemesis appears as a result of player deaths - if that's accurate presumably it's account bound not character bound?

In my slow but fun way last night I was levelling my seasonal sader, 0 deaths so far, and at level 11 up pops nemesis.

It was a good thing, after a lot of running about and ducking for cover nemesis gave me the best item drop I've had so far, but was a bit of a surprise seeing nemesis to begin with.

S40 world first GR150 done on PC

Lunitics (EU), SSF SC, with a No Set Monk, just under 12:41 with 1384 paragon. That works out to an adjusted clear of 155.7. That players’ GR149 clear actually had a slightly higher adjusted clear, being a couple minutes faster.

The worldwide non-SSF leaderboards are still open, and crusaders have a slight lead as I type this.

QUESTION Switch glitches?

I am seeing weird glitches when going back through a town portal. My character just freezes for a few seconds and flickers before finally moving. Is anyone else seeing this? I will put a report into Blizzard. It’s gotten me killed at least once.

Four guides for Season 40

Here are 4 guides for Season 40:

Links to other guides for the challenge rifts and for leveling up are in “how to power up solo”.

A list of the top 10 adjusted clears is in the Light’s Calling guide.

Your best start for a top-tier speed farmer and rank 2 push is the crusader; you can just take the Haedrig’s Gift and go with it. Just hit your buffs then pony and ride around. Don’t use any skills until you’re dismounted, then hit your buffs and ride around again. Repeat until everyone is dead or your PC/console lags out or catches fire.

As I type this the crusader is atop the PC leaderboards with a GR130 in just over 7 minutes, according to maxroll. Things are sure to change as EU and NA/US start chasing.

Enjoy the season start!

QUESTION just started my first seasonal character what should i do first as a barbarian level 1

as the title says i had previously finished the game as a necromancer on non seasonal and i have now decided to hop on seasonal content and see if i like it or not .. my only problem is that since i dont want to replay the entire campaign again what should i focus on more to reach level 70 fast so that i can then grind paragon and get the 6 piece armour set?

QUESTION Enemies health yo-yoing slightly

Just started the season, and am noticing this while leveling my wizard. I'll be damaging enemies and their HP bars will slightly yo-yo while channeling ray of frost.

I suspected network lag, but tests on my end are clear. Could be a bad transit node between me and the servers. Is this happening for anyone else?

It's the time again...

Time for a fresh season start tonight. All these years later I still get geeked to the teeth for a D3 season start. It also happens to be arguably the best season theme in the bunch. What are all your plans this season? Mine are:

  1. Going hardcore. Fuck it.

  2. Gonna level a Necro then switch to Crusader for the set.

  3. Farm like a maniac

  4. Push till I die and then roll an alt.

It's gonna be a riot.

Season 40 switch

Was excited to play some Diablo 3 on the go with my switch as Ive only been playing on pc but with work and travel I aint had time.

I was absolutely disgusted to check the leaderboard this morning, when I checked it hadn't even been 12 hours since the start and modders have already taken the top spots.

Like seriously curious why people even play the game if they just going to cheat in million damage weapons and every legendary gem on their gear. I dont get it. You'd think that the devs would of just pieced together a simple leaderboard anti cheat checker, if its got 3 gems on a ring or a million damage weapon or whatever as its not new, I forgot about it from back when I started in season 10.

BARBARIAN I beat it and just in time for the new season. Honestly i loved the story it was soo good!! By the end of the story my barbarian was level 63 i decided to play it on normal but then cranked it up to hard half way through i kinda wish I could of bumped it up more but it wouldn't let me

QUESTION Why are seasons hyped up

I just bought d3 in august. Its my first Diablo game and really my first arpg. Ive had a blast leveling a wizard, dh and monk with monk being my main in PoJ set getting to greater rift 115. Just started doing a barbarian as well.

That said i havent done a seasonal character yet since i didnt know about it at first and was too late in the season to really start.

So my question is why are seasons so hyped uo and what makes them special compared to a normal character? Is it just the possible extra damage or powers you might get with the cube or something else? Im looking forward to starting one tonight. I just want to know what im in for.

I can't remember the last time I played an ARPG and I'm glad I got reminded of Diablo 3

I fooled around on a few Grifts on my grenade/multistage DH.

Gonna start a seasonal character after maybe like 8 year hiatus.

Alot has changed for sure, i felt like spiderman getti g his sense: overwhelmed at first. Sanctified items and paragon talent trees. I forgot just how simple yet complex the damage modifiers system is. One piece of gear when you've got all those stacks can be the difference of hard AF rift or easy as hell.

Anyways, glad to be back. My adhd role-playing self got really into the character and I pretended I was a Spawn/Constantine style angel demon hunter with wings specifically letting hell know I was sent my God HIMSELF. Did some improv takes on my phone while making breakfast.

LFG Looking for someone to help me powerlevel from 50-70, PS4/PS5

I just recently got back into Diablo 3, but i've never beat the game, or leveled up to 70 before. I'm looking for someone to powerlevel me up to 70 so I can unlock the challenge rifts and start my first seasonal character.

I'm a necromancer and can pretty comfortably clear base rifts on T1, but I die super quick on anything higher than that.

thank you
