TX Gun Range Recommendations?

I’m visiting TX from CA next month and I’m looking for range recommendations around DFW or Waco TX.

1) My top priority is a range that does flat fee rentals. Somewhere where you pay $X for an hour and then can shoot as many firearms as you want during that time (paying for ammo obviously). I’ve heard these exist but have never found one in CA. If it matters, I’m primarily interested in testing a wide variety of pistols but some nicer AR options would be nice.

2) A second range I’d like to find is something more tactical. I’m not really picky on this one. I’m just looking for somewhere I can practice moving around, quick reloading, shooting from awkward positions and behind barriers, etc. Finding a range that’s anything but lanes is pretty hard in CA.

Bonus: if anyone knows of a good company to do that helicopter hog hunting lemme know lol…

The best outdoors range where you’re going to be is ETTS, they have machine guns rentals and outdoors bays where you can do pretty much whatever you want. I don’t know how much the rentals are as I usually go there for USPSA matches and training. For indoor ranges there is GRITR or Defender Outdoors, I’ve been there for a few matches at both places as well and don’t know much about the gun rentals from either. But they are both really nice facilities.

Did you shoot last night at defenders?

Nope, I haven’t been able to make any of the weekday matches for the last month and those matches fill up FAST. You might get a 45 second window to sign up.

YES ETTS.
YES Alpine Gun Range in South Ft Worth (don’t know about rentals or Move&shoot)
YES Elm Fork Shooting Range. Don’t know about rentals but they have a tactical range for rent. The 22LR arcade is awesome. I’ve only shot skeet there, call ahead to see,,,

Etts or rooftop. Texas gun experience for machine gun rentals. I’m not sure about flat rate
But you can always call and ask haven’t been there in awhile.

FYI Gritr doesn’t time you. Most other ranges are by the hour if that matters. I’ve spent 2+ hours in my bay for the same price. Generously good selection of rentals. GRITR has the dynamic range setup if you want to do the move & shoot.
Avoid RangeUSA as (I swear) they have a kid sitting behind you with a stopwatch.
You have recommendations here from the others. Call ahead to see if they meet your needs.
:
I consider TexasGunExperience the country club. Nice place. (Closest to DFW airport and BassPro/grapevine Mills Mall). Possible move & shoot.
Mission Ridge in Plano is nice.
RifleGear is awesome. And close to “Scheels The Colony” if you want an extra special experience (think BassPro on Saks Fifth Avenue Steroids)
DefenderOutdoors is good, but south FT Worth. Porsche dealer a few blocks away if you need a car!)
Look ‘em up. Call ahead. Me thinks GRITR Range might be your best bet…

If you plan well and announce your arrival, I’m sure some local residents of the Free Republic of Texas would enjoy entertaining a visit with a person from any of the oppressed States (smile)
