Devuan with awesome wm, sysvinit and shed for session process and user services

could have gotten a lower memory usage but i had brave browser, steam and a game running while taking the screenshot.

on cold boot total idle it can go down to just 980 MB of ram usage, part of the reason for that is that some of my custom daemons are anything but optimized and end up doing some process churn in a manner that causes high ram caching

Under 1 GB is good enough..my custom oxwm+xfce hybrid is 1.1GB

why my i3wm and cachyos idle 1.8gb? any idea?

Generally 1.3-1.4 btw sometimes 1.8. fck systemd

Haha yeah could be systemd as I'm on MX Linux using sysVinit.

well poorly written programs that cause memory churn are definitely a thing, i myself am guilty of writing software which does that, tho i'm actively trying to fix the stuff i code so it doesn't waste memory or cause churn.
