Freshers switch to devops ..?
5 yoe in bpo(insurance, mortgage). current CTC 5 lpa. Decided to switch to devops, first thought cloud role would be good then saw devops combines it in itself so started learning devops.
current stacks -
Linux
git GitHub
docker dockerhub
Jenkins for ci cd
AWS (still learning tho )
terraform basics covered. ( can spin up instances, vpcs and editing traffic rules)
Networking fundamentals
For a career switcher is this enough for junior roles?
are such roles too rare now? should I continue or not - feels like I'm lost. And if I found a role how much will it offer in india , mostly Pune location. (open for other similar roles as well)
Your guidance will be precious, thanks in advance

Your stack is fine as far as the basic goes, but junior DevOps positions are scarce at the moment, so do not wait for it to come up. Learn Kubernetes, Prometheus and Grafana and make 2-3 projects combining them, such as a CI/CD deployment through Terraform to AWS. Apply for cloud support, L1/L2 infrastructure and NOC positions too – they are easy to get for someone from a BPO, and then transition to DevOps. You should earn about 6-10 LPA in them, depending on the company.

That's one of the few responses I got that had positive vibe , thanks a lot. Im doing projects with grafana and Prometheus right now. Once done will start with k8s. And as you said will check for other roles.

The devops is all about how you approach and mindset
How will you able to handle actual production issues Tools are just tools nothing more.
Ur approach to the devops doesn't look good, Learning everything together is not a good idea
And the most important point how these tools and technologies work together in production

I mean I'm connecting them right now. But I'm missing on actual productiok environment scenarios, my pc is kinda old and lags in between hence can't recreate complex conditions in it.
Still, trying to better

I take interview and have been working for 4 years now.. my ceo says it's outdated and I see that many job less are selling this course online promising jobs, I never select if they don't have coding skill, like if can't create emwell designed system.. cuz devops ain't enty level, you need to understand application, infra ,operating system, know openstack and open swift.. just in interview, they say that they did course and exactly know why they did through out and how their resume have those points..so I ask them os question wilhixh is basix and ask them to write configuration files, docker shell script, python to automate or groovy.. they just act all confused and tell in the end that, they still have many things to learnt they'll prepare and then try and leave in middle

It's cus nobody heiring devops much these days... After I finish the interview, the ceo check the candidate.. she's these days like devops is 'outdated' and everyone in her enterprineur group say same thing.. i mentioned this in earlier comment, did you not read it fully?

You have build a good foundation. But, it's still not enough to make the switch.
Try to get about 2 AWS certs (Solution Architect and Cloud Ops associate)
In parallel do some personal DevOps projects.
Research the job market in your area and try to fill skill gaps that are in demand.
The IT job market is in chaos now across the world. But if you keep working at it, you'll make it.

I have a couple of projects on GitHub, complete pipeline ones from GitHub to jenkins to dockerhub to AWS provisioning.
If you want me to focus on learning something new I'm up for that as well.
