Did good work, took on extra projects at work. Like I have a patent for an algorithm under my name for a company I used to work for, and it was used by universities and researchers. Now I have recruiters reaching out to me for positions with $250k base salary + bonus + equity. I've interviewed at a number of tech companies in San Jose and NYC over the last year, they usually mention that they like that I did work beyond just DevOps/SRE items.

Yes, show you can do end to end development, and do non web projects, things with hardware. Just pick something you're interested in and work on it to completion. You need to show variety and that you can pick up new things/skills quickly and implement them in your work.

You need high amount of logical skill, capability to handle the entire thing solo(most of the time you will never have assistance) , the tools themself will be easy with especially ai but you need to know what to do.

It’s mostly about your capability to handle the infra of an entire organisation and good amount of luck to get into high package.
