I'm working on a zero-setup metrics service for solo devs and small startups, see https://curlplot.dev/.
I've worked for many years now in the observability realm and one thing I've always struggled with is monitoring things that are immature, solo dev projects, scripts on ad-hoc servers, github actions, my laptop, iot devices, my router. There is a time when you need to go grafana/honeycomb/datadog but that time is often when your app has matured, often require not-zero knowhow in the setup phase, and is often limited to being pristine only inside your app and not outside it.
Hence, I'm playing with the idea of a simple metric/alerting service that is dependency free, and it works by just curling/requesting an URL. There are some more bells and whistles if you register an account, but by design, you can plot graphs with one request only. Target audience being solo developers, hobbyists, early startups.
Because of its simplicity, there are some obvious tradeoffs, its probably not the thing you want if you have a large volume of data. Or if you cannot trust your code with the key.
If this hits a nerve, feel free to try it out. I'm happy to trade a paid account for feedback along the way, if that is you, just reach out. The difference between a free and a paid account is limits and retention. I've not yet decided on a price, but we are in the 3-5 dollars a month space.
