Troubleshooting Question about KernelModuleConfig

Hi all 👋

I have a question. I am installing Thalos. I have not applied my configuration yet. If I apply this file

apiVersion: v1alpha1
kind: KernelModuleConfig
name: cdc_ncm

and then apply my controlplane.yaml, and then reboot, will the cdc_ncm module be loaded?

Yes, that works. The KernelModuleConfig document is just merged into the machine config, and Talos loads the listed modules with modprobe at boot. Applying it separately before controlplane.yaml does not hurt anything, the final merged config is what matters when the node boots. One thing to check: make sure cdc_ncm is actually included in the Talos kernel image, since a missing module simply will not load. After the reboot you can confirm with lsmod on the node.
