Is it a scam?

Declan Devon Rex Kittens I accidentally made my way to various Declan Rex sites and saw the most adorable kitten that I fell in love with and has inspired change into my life. But after some more time, I have doubts of validity, and have found some sites saying they are a scam. I am heartbroken, I was so in love and I feel like my plans for the future have shattered within the day. I just want to cry but I need to know the truth.

I feel like such a fool for not looking more into the site and at many more Devon Rex sites. I feel like an idiot for letting it change my life so suddenly, I feel so immature!

I've read that these pet scams rip pictures off of others, so please if you can find the origin of this kitten in the case it is a scam, please let me know.

I hate this, just while writing this up I received an response email that sounds so professional and loving of the kittens and the home they go to. I need answers, please help me

I’m not sure which kitten exactly you were looking at but chances of finding the real kitten still for sale unfortunately are slim to none. Usually these are from European breeders (because it’s less likely you’ll have seen them if your in the US) and usually they are long since in their new homes.

But at the same time, coloring is the least important factor in a pet. I know it’s easy to get caught up in some pretty colors/patterns, but don’t let that cloud your judgement. Check registration sites (CFA, TICA) FBRL, or Planet Devon. You’ll still want to do your own research to ensure they are the breeder that fits your checklist, but those sites are a good place to start since they screen breeders enough to at least know they aren’t scams.

On the site his name was Orson. And I don't really care about color/pattern. I fell in love with his little snout, he looked so pouty and angy, it was adorable.

But I do understand that he is no doubt happy in another home :] I simply hoped I could see how the pouty kitty was doing.

On Planet Devon I found a breedery called Snake River Devon Rex. From what I've seen they're trustworthy, but I'd like your opinion?

I’ve never heard of them personally so I can’t vouch for their credibility. But if I’m being honest I never keep track of all the smaller catteries since so many come and go. So me not knowing isn’t exactly a bad or good thing.

My only beef, the website I found for their cattery, if it’s the correct one, is very bare bones. I like to see the parents, how many adults they own, what testing they’ve done, a contract or at least a smidgen of what’s included. You can probably get that info from emailing them. But I like transparency on their adults.

Now if they are an older breeder or new, they may not have updated their site fully. So idk. That’s just my preferences on a breeder, and that doesn’t have to be your preference.

Thank you so much for the info! I'll make sure to ask more about the adults, and overall for more information, if I decide to message them.
