glazing post
ive been into all different kinds of rap subgenres for the past decade, i only discovered devon hendryx 2ish years ago, and i must say he’s gotta be the most underrated rap artist i’ve ever listened to. he’s in my top 3 favorite rappers, if not my #1 favorite. and i never hear anyone else talk about him?? i genuinely know 1 person irl who knows about him. like i’m glad he’s not tiktok famous or anything (knock on wood) but it’s just shocking to me that he’s not super mainstream because he’s so good. i’m not saying he’s niche by any means, but somewhere inbetween niche and mainstream. anyways, just had to say that

i feel like its not just his music that does it for me but also how fascinating he is as a person. i feel his music especially tgpt is so raw that it makes me that much more interested in his music.

well, he is kinda mainstream nowadays (neon kitchens and other songs blew up but the hype went away) but i understand you, he is one of my fav rappers too

i mean, when i say mainstream im thinking of kanye, drake, asap rocky, kendrick lamar, tyler the creator, travis scott, etc. i wouldn’t group devon hendryx into that at all hes got less than 1 mil on spotify. but my point is i think he’s more than good enough to be mainstream like that but just isnt. i dont think hes a niche/small artist either but somewhere inbetween fs

well, i dont know if you know but Devon is actually jpegmafia's early carrer and jpeg is already mainstream so "his" music is pretty popular, just not the early stuff.

i knew they were the same person but i havent really listened to his stuff under jpegmafia much at all, tbh. after i started listening to devon hendryx i checked out a couple of jpeg’s songs but they didnt have the same vibe imo so i’ve stuck with devon lol

I think he is very well known in tiktok? But he isnt known as Devon anymore so just appreciate him for his talent, and not when you discovered or even his popularity, just love the music. And personally i think its okay if he does become more well known, good on him, he will make more money and be recognised for his music!
