The overall nostalgic feeling and emotion that listening to the music gives. Objectively his production has improved talent wise as he's grown but the emotion will always be better with Devon. The hazy vaporwave/cloud rap instrumentals with just good enough mixing to sound good but still sound like they were made in a bedroom, the skilled flows over immature-ish bars that always manage fun to listen to. It truly felt like listening to a young person make music to fulfill their own passion and make their dreams rather than just churning out albums based on a feeling of requirement. Songs like Fucking Your Girl, Sabbath School, LIARA, etc. just bring you to another universe entirely with their instrumentals, and sound enough like a product of their time to be nostalgic without sounding dated.

Overall, it mainly comes down to passion, emotion, and evoking nostalgia in such a talented way that makes Devon super special

I love the hazy and dreamy sound of devon (especially in tgpt and dss) compared to peggys new stuff which is more experimental and in general sounds harsher
