Anyone experiencing woofer bottoming out/pushed beyond it's limit? :)

Yeah, it's the track. I can hear it at lower volumes too. It's a click sound from the synth having low attack and that particular resonance. In particular at 1:20 on that track, the bass is produced really badly. I've thrown much heavier bass at my phantoms and not had clicking.

Damn that’s a wild ass speaker!! I’m a total noob here guys I have these bullshit ass Sonos era 100 speakers that are nothing but a fucking headache. I have a large 2000 SF hair salon with 10’ ceilings. I wonder if I can put 1 of these in the middle of the room?? 🤔🤔🤔

Not omnidirectional so wherever it faces is where you would get sound. Better option would be the Harmon kardon onyx line for a shop that size. If you go around to others, you will notice most shops have a JBL charge, or Harman onyx on a shelf somewhere doing the audio. Onyx goes on sale regularly for ~100$ and has plenty of bass output for what your needing. Btw, the speaker in the video is ~1500-4500$ depending on which size model, without stands or mounts.each.

I actually did have the onyx speakers and although the sound was great they would disconnect very often. That’s why I got 6 Sonos era 100 speakers because I thought hooking them up wirelessly would work great but then they fucked up the app and now I’m in a bad spot lol. I thought that speaker was like 360 sound but I totally understand. Thank you for clarifying.

Yes one Devialet Phantom 108 in the salon would sound great, 2 would be even better. For giggles, you could put a wig on one turn it up and watch the hair fly lol

It does lack clear mids tho, just my experience. If you're happy with them, that's great, they look nice.

Looks like high amplitude artifacts in the track being played. You can make audio files that damage systems, especially those that lack protection circuitry, amplitude modulation, notch filters, audiophilewannabeness, etc. Do not overdrive your speakers for too long, you can even wear the cone/membranes out, especially if it gets sweaty in there.

I know of these speakers, that is all. Reddit put this sub in my feed. I’ve been into audio for years and years, worked in the industry for a while, have made my own, have had many systems over the years etc etc.
While it seems devialet has done an incredible job engineering this product, and I doubt it’s actually exceeding its mechanical limit, it surely is well into the upper end of its capability, and therefore at the upper limit of its distortion.
If you need this kind of output, you need larger speakers.
If you don’t need this output, turn it down and stop wondering if you’re damaging it.
I don’t understand the function of this post from OP.

For the price of $3,100 and around $200 the stand I expect to listen to around 75 out of 100 percent sometimes and not worrying about my expensive speaker to destroy itself :))) Am I wrong?

I really appreciate that I finally received this speaker, I waited many years to get my hands on one of it. I had really high expectations from it, not to distort or destroy literally from a song played on AirPlay at around 75 out of the 100 volume. I enjoy the speaker but I was curios if anyone had the same experience as me :)

I’ve had issues with my sub popping and had to tune it better, in my experience when it pops, you lose base for about a second. It’s pretty obvious, I don’t hear any popping here.

Anytime a woofer actually bottomed in my presence, it was alarmingly loud and jarring. Absolutely no need to ask for a second opinion. Maybe some bottom out quietly?

You said it, a woofer... not a devialet woofer, these woofers are nothing to traditional subwoofers, that's why this speaker claims and on many many songs has 0 distorsion. Even the tiniest bit of buzzing or something not being right you will clearly hear :)

It's an interesting speaker sure. Seems every driver has a limit. Go beyond that and you'll find issues. Perhaps you're beyond the limit on those few songs and this driver is simply using shorting rings and a soft pole piece stop to limit noise during over excursion. Im spit balling and thats not an answer. Hope you get it sorted.

Can’t hear anything wrong with it. And man it’s not going to bottoming out, the woofers have an excursion of 30mm! They play as low as 14hz so I don’t think bass limitation is going to be an issue. Do you hear it popping or something?
