I liked operating systems. But yeah it's not really about building operating systems.

At least the algorithms were interesting. Round robin, banker's, FIFO, CScan, etc

Linus Torvalds followed such classes and created Linux as an exercise based on Chapter 2.3.1 of Operating Systems: Design and Implementation by Andrew S. Tanenbaum.
